Changing Lights

We are changing lights and coordinating them for the show.

Bad Night Sleeping

Went to sleep a little after ten as usual. Then some massive storms rolled in a little after midnight and hammered us for hours. Rain, hail, high winds, lots and lots of thunder and lightning.

I don't know what time I feel back to sleep but I am sure that I am very tired right now and slept for less than half the night. It is going to be a very busy week. Three days of dress rehearsals and then three performances. This is the busiest week of any show. Next week will be easy since it only has one pick up rehearsal in the middle of the week and two shows.

Yes this is going to be a long week but a fun week. I'll be exhausted by the end of it but in a good way.

On my brackets, I have picked all four Final Four teams on two of six brackets! I have no idea who is in what place but we'll soon see!

Man Hall Of Fame Part 19

This honorable induction into the Man Hall of Fame was very pre PC. Political correctness is the collective neutering of the American Culture. It is ushering in the nanny state which knows how to run your life better than you do. It will keep you from learning important skills and deny you from overcoming problems since you won't be equipped to do so....but that is a subject for another blog.

This inductee liked to show ingenuity, adventure, survival skills, and out and out fun! It also showed evil getting beat in the end, bad guys were shot and blown up and all in a......cartoon!

Johnny Quest, his friend Haji, Race Bannon and of course Dr. Quest along with Bandit jetted around the world conducting experiments while stumbling across the proverbial plots to take over the world and stopping them! In the mean time henchmen went down faster than the French border under threat of invasion.

They were usually shot, blown out of the sky, blown up with the main villain in their lair, or just disappeared and all at the hands of the Quest group. There were no helmets for riding bicycles in this show, no knee pads, no elbow pads. These were manly kids. Role models for a future generation!

Unusual Day

Well I got home from a typical day at work yesterday to see that the neighbor's dog, a little part chihuahua had gotten out and was running around the block. It is pretty much a puppy, less than a year old. I was in a hurry to get to rehearsal since it was starting earlier. I also didn't want the dog to get hit by a car or run off.

So I rushed around and caught the dog. I thought the neighbor would be home by the time I got it caught but he wasn't. I had to go and I didn't want to put the dog back into the fence since there is a big rottweiler in the fence and I couldn't get the dog back in there.

So I have a pet carrier and put the puppy in that and put it in the neighbor's drive way so she would be safe and he would find her. Then I left to get to supper and rehearsal which lasted until nearly eleven. We ran the whole play from start to finish starting at around seven thirty.

It went fairly well as the actors were off book during the whole play. They only had to ask for lines occasionally or we went back if large parts of dialogue were skipped.

Overall it was a successful rehearsal and we will be running the whole thing again this evening!

Tired

Rehearsal went well but over the past few nights it has gotten out later and later. I didn't get home until after 10:30 last night and didn't have much time to relax before bed.

It helps me to sleep if I can do something to relax my mind so it isn't still working when I really want to sleep. Anyway we are going to run the entire play tonight and tomorrow at six. Every night from here on out Misery will be run in its entirety.

The leg mold was a dismal failure. The top half was just too thin and it broke at the shallowest parts. We cut the leg off of a mannequin and cut the foot off of that. We will build it up to look like Beersnob's leg and airbrush the bruises on it.

I know I can do that part.

Hi Ho Hi Ho

Its off to work I go this morning. I feel up to it. I'm feeling a lot better about going back to work this time than I was a couple of weeks ago when I shouldn't have.

Rehearsal went a little long last night. I am hoping that the leg mold will work. If we can get the two pieces apart again without breaking the top piece then I know it will work. It is just a matter of carefully handling the top piece which had a crack in it when we first tried to get it apart to get Beersnob's foot out of it. We could use an extra two weeks of rehearsal. We only had four weeks for this rather complex production instead of the normal six weeks.

It took me a while to get to sleep last night but when I did it felt good and I feel decently rested today. I'll feel better once I get back into the swing of getting up this early and such. It'll take me at least next week to get back in the groove again.

Last Day Off

And I feel pretty decent.

I've got to go get an award for the play today. Catina arranged for us to use it, I just have to pick it up. Tonight we are going to do the top half of the leg mold.

I don't have a lot of plans today really. Just enjoying my last day of recovery. I was pretty right about recovery this time taking less than last time. That stent made a world of difference. I've blogged quite a bit about it already so I won't get into it again.

My throat is sore, I think they scratched it when I was in, it makes me cough but I don't have a cold. My sides hurt from coughing but I am not sick. It is a strange feeling.

Leg Mold Blues!

This is going to be one half of the leg mold that we are constructing
for Misery! We are doing the top half tomorrow night!

Not Much Planned For Today!

And it feels great!

I have no responsibilities today except to rest and go to rehearsal tonight. Yes I do plan on going to rehearsal. All I have to do is sit there and watch, offer comments occasionally, and let the director bounce her ideas off of me.

The set is mostly built now, it is just the detail work that needs to be done. The next time that heavy lifting will be done is when we tear the set down in a few weeks. I'll be 100% by then.

I think I'm going to watch Stargate: SG1 though, that is about the extent of my plans I guess. I mentioned the other day that this was probably one of the most underrated scifi shows ever. It doesn't have the epic story lines of Babylon 5 but it is very entertaining. Most of the story lines are gripping and very well written.

Come on, how many shows last ten full seasons? Not many. Not many at all. It is just such a cool concept that you can get up in the morning, drive to a gate that will take you to another planet, come home, and do the whole thing the next day again.

Yeah, love the show!

Good News, Bad News

The good news is that that stupid stent is gone and I feel pretty good this time after lithotripsy!
I little sore like a bruise but I feel pretty good overall. No cramping, no irritation, nothing like that.

The bad news is that the big stone on the right side is smaller but still there. Big enough to not pass and I'll likely have to do this all again in a couple of weeks.

I don't know yet, I have to call tomorrow and they will let me know what they are planning to do about it.

Today Is The Day!

I finally get this stupid stent out. I go in at noon, they do the left side at two and pull this stent.

After today hopefully, I'll be done with all of this kidney stone business for a long long time! I'll be drinking lots of water each day. I've been getting used to that anyway.

Like a thousand ounces a day, some insane amount like that. Yeah, its crazy.

My brackets, I believe, look like middle of the pack brackets. A couple of upsets hurt, like when UConn got beat. Georgetown really hurt too, I had them in the Elite Eight on all six brackets. Likely everyone else did too though. When I'm going to make up ground is that I have all four top seeds winning the championship. So if the Final Four goes perfect then perhaps I have a shot.

I'm all set for the next few days here at home though. I have plenty of water, I plan on watching Stargate SG1 on DVD (This is a great series, very underrated in terms of good scifi) and I have painkillers. I plan on being off until Thursday. Without a stent going back in on the left side I shouldn't have the discomfort I had the first time around. I was just miserable. Recovery should be faster this time around:)

Happy Easter!!!!

I hope your day is filled with hope, love, joy, and peace! The most important day on the Christian calendar is today.

I'm probably middle of the pack in my brackets so far. I'll know better probably by tomorrow after today's games. The sweet sixteen will be set after today's games.

Set call went well yesterday, we really accomplished a lot! We all had a nice lunch afterwards and bonded as a cast and crew. We are all familiar with each other anyway so we really don't have to bond anymore but it was nice.

Later in the evening I went to a meeting to talk over the fanfilm project which has lost a lot of momentum but might actually be picking up again. After that I just drove to a couple of places to try and find something to help me kill the down time over the next three days off of work.

Finished!

I figure there are about twenty thousand four by four squares on these
walls. That might by a guess but that is what it felt like!

Painting

This is the stencil we are using on our walls for Misery. We have two
four inch by four inch applications to do two big walls. Yes it is
taking some time.

Man Hall Of Fame Part 18

Today's Man Hall of Fame entry is someone I've blogged about before. It is high time that she is inducted into the Man Hall of Fame and today is her day! She is the perfect and rare combination of brains, beauty, and creativity.

She is someone you could take out on the town or to a pub after a hard day of blowing things up and be equally comfortable. Yep, home to mother or on a around the world adventure, she is your girl and she could probably save your bacon several times along the way!

This is the female MacGyver of her time! Give her a straw, bottle cap, and a blank DVD and she could take over the world, blow up the bad guys, and make it look like fun!

She is a talented artist in her own right and she loves explosions! She is a science geek chick but she could easily be on a Paris runway! Kari Byron, Mythbuster, artist, and just plain out and out hottie!

Kari Byron takes her well deserved place today into the Man Hall of Fame! Congratulations Kari and welcome!

March Madness Has Begun!!!!

I'm 15-1 on three of my six sheets!!!!
I've only lost two teams going into the next round on two other sheets!
My upset sheet is a mess though.

No big deal. I'm in a great position so far and I hope to continue it well into today's games!

I'm off for a preprocedure appointment at the doctor's office so I am going to get the supplies ready for attempting to make our fake foot mold on Monday evening! That is going to be fun! I can't wait to get going on that!

It Is My Friday!

Yes my friends, after today I'm off work until next Thursday! Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment to get ready for Monday. Yes my vacation leave has fallen dramatically but I recover it quickly! In about seven to nine weeks I'll have it all back.

Rehearsal went well last night! We ran the first act without a book and even through some hiccups occurred it went pretty well! This is coming together faster than I thought it would! It is a complex production and very involved. There is a lot of direction and timing issues that all have to be addressed and it is working well right now!

The director is doing a masterful job right now and I'm basically staying out of her way. She has the vision of how it should look and is relaying that vision to everyone. It is our jobs to see that it gets done that way.

Rehearsing The Fight

This is our fine actors rehearsing the final fight scene!

Rehearsal Has Gone Great!

Last night we did the ax scene for the first time! This scene and the final fight scene will now be practiced twice before every rehearsal starts from here on out. For two reasons:

1. We will be using a real ax, even though it won't be sharp and Beersnob's leg won't even be there as we are using a prosthetic and a hole in the mattress for his real leg, IT IS STILL AN AX on stage.

2. The fight scene has to look real and the only thing that will make it do that is to practice it until you are sick of it.

I personally feel a lot better. The stent has settled down I guess and it is much easier to go to the bathroom. I'm still drinking a ton of water each day. I'm still looking forward to having it removed though. I can still feel it occasionally.

March Madness is all set now! Mt. St. Mary's beat Coppin State in last night's play in game and they will now have the dubious honor of being beat by North Carolina. I filled out six brackets at work! In all of them except two I have every number one seed making it except Memphis who I think is vulnerable against Texas who will be playing in Houston.

First Day

Back at work and it wasn't bad at all. No pain pills yesterday either! I slept like a rock!

That cinches it, the lortabs have been messing with my sleep and I'm done with them until Monday! I don't need them as much anymore. The stent, while still uncomfortable at times is something I can live with as long as I drink water.

I am thinking next week will be a breeze now! I am sure my right side will hurt a bit after the removal and probably be a bit bruised but other than that I am gold! I am used to the rest of it now but I'm still taking until Thursday off.

Rehearsal went well last night! We got into the second act now and are about to get to the ax scene! That will be fun! We are also getting the stuff together to make the mold for the fake foot! I can't wait until we do that!
