The Anti Favre

Public sentiment has really turned against first ballot hall of famer Brett Favre the past two weeks. More and more people are siding with the Packers over Favre. I listen to a lot of sports radio at work and the Sirius NFL radio channel and callers tend to think Favre should quit jerking the Pack around and stay retired.

He retired owning every passing record on Earth (almost literally) and now he wants to come back after Green Bay drafted two count them TWO new quaterbacks and handed the team over to Aaron Rogers without a fight in training camp.

They have moved on, given Favre a parade, sealed up his locker, yadda yadda only to have Favre fax his intentions to be reinstated to NFL headquarters. At one time Favre could do no wrong, well unless he was in a playoff game in which he would always throw that interception at a crucial moment that would cost his team the game but OTHER THAN THAT he could do no wrong in Green Bay....until he decided to unretire.

Now it appears that everyone has turned against him. The fans don't want him on the bench of another team, they want Favre to always be theirs. Don't blame them. He likely will want to be traded to a contender which the Pack won't do inside their own division, sorry Minnesota.

The Packers now have a choice if Roger Goddell decides to reinstate Brett Favre, put him on the roster, trade him, or cut him.

Green Bay you should put Brett Favre on the roster, he did have you in the NFC championship game last year on your own field. I don't see how he wouldn't give you the best chance to win. If you hand the team over fully to Aaron Rogers and you start losing, you will look like the biggest idiots EVER.

I feel sorry for you because Brett Favre has put you into this horrible position, his own selfishness has put you in a very bad position. If Brett Favre cared about his team he would step aside and make it for real and not play on your emotions. He retired, he should man up and stay retired for the good of the team he loves. Let them and the game move on without him. He has put not only management, the fans, but his own team members in a bad position to have to choose whether to support Rogers or him. In the press they are united behind Rogers for sure but in the locker room you can bet that a great many of them support Favre and that leads to dissention.

Brett Favre stay gone. Green Bay deserves better from you.

Well put. I agree with you on all points except that of encouraging the Packers to take Favre back. $12 million (from what I've heard) is a lot of cap money to have come back to haunt you. Also, they were going to take him back and then Brett changed his mind (again) 2 days before the official "he's back" announcement. That's not fair to coaches, players, management, owners, fans, etc. A team must prepare and know months before the season starts what their weapons, options, and strategies will be.
