Opening Night Monsoon!

I was slow on two cues but quickly recovered and we had a great show! The audience was a very good audience and laughed at the right times and really enjoyed the show!

I really enjoyed myself and working around the actors. It is that feeling of energy and activity going on all around that is exciting as I said earlier.

Yesterday was very busy with Opening Night, I filmed and posted my tenth You Tube episode this month, I couldn't get supper at the pub since they were full up so I walked over to another place and had a cobb salad and a tea. A girl that I met a couple of times works there and we chatted for a few minutes to catch up.

We also had a monsoon of a rain storm! Wow, after I posted last the storm seemed to pick up steam but it was just sprinkling after the show let out. I headed to a get together afterwards adn then made it home around midnight. Paid some bills this morning and I'm good! Catina gave me a gift certificate to the Pub for helping out with the show and doing a couple of things on her computer so I was very grateful for that! It was so nice!

All in all it was a really super busy and good day!!!!

Today I head to Beersnob's house to shoot a trailer for the fanfilm project! This is going to be so much fun!!!! Good things keep on happening!!!!

Opening Night

And it is raining like....well I can't think of anything clever at the moment.

I am about to go film the tenth episode of the You Tube project. I'm pretty hungry but I just looked at the meat I bought earlier this week is now outdated by a few days so I will probably be going to the Pub for supper in a bit.

The play opens tonight and I'll be there about a half hour to an hour early to go through all of the final preparations. This is a good play. I've been enjoying working on it in what little way I am. What I have been enjoying more than that is the constant flow of activity around me. I feel that I am in my element.

Perhaps that is why filmmaking appeals to me so much. There is always something going on, it is a constant challenge and exciting.

Well I have a lot to do at the moment or I'd blog a bit more!

Getting Better

Since I couldn't post early this morning I'll make today a double post day!

I just got back from the last rehearsal before the show goes live tomorrow.
This was the first time with a live audience, a full dress rehearsal.

I blew two cues but recovered quickly. That means that I have this headset thingy on and talk to the guy up in the booth that runs the lights. I told him to turn the lights on too early two times.

Usually I have a decent sense of timing but not tonight. Overall this has been a fun challenge that I have willingly accepted and pretty much conquered quickly for my very first time doing anything like this.

Afterwards the director, Catina, Chianti, Nick the boy intern from Drinkbusters and...uuuummmm....The Booth Guy (Bob) and myself went to the pub for a fast round. Faster for me since I work in the morning.

It was my first drink this week even though I stopped in there for supper last night before rehearsal. I just had a salad and tea with a slice of cheesecake:)

Yummy!

Lately I have had this really cool sense of inner peace. I don't know if it is a side effect from being on such a creative tear lately or just a lot of things going well at the right time but it has been really good. Spiritually I feel better than I have felt in a long time, physically I feel better than I have felt in a long time, I sleep better and have had more lucid and vivid dreams! I've felt more rested and with my secret You Tube project due for another episode tomorrow I feel that it is going better than I had hoped!

It is going so well I might move up the time table to when I start posting the link to it for people I know. I don't know, maybe I won't. I really have to be patient and let this unfold in its own time but this is something I really want to do fast! I guess I have to put the brakes on and just slow it down. Excuse me, I'm just excited about it!

Guess it is about time to buy another lottery ticket!

Another Rainy Day

Very rainy in fact. It was so rainy that there was an internet outage so I couldn't update my blog this morning. That is alright though I'm doing it now!

Well I have three Netflix movies that I haven't been able to get to with all of the super being busy in the evenings with the rehearsals. That is alright though I'll get to them soon enough.

I just watched a short about heroes online. I love finding gems like that. It presented Mahatma Gandhi as being a racist. While I haven't done any research into this I won't speculate whether he was or wasn't.

What I'll speculate about is what makes up a hero to me.

I know that I personally hold in high esteem a handful of people for various reasons. Some for skills, some for mercy and charity, some for personal reasons, and some for who knows why.
Some you have probably heard of and some you never will unless you know me and we have chatted or hung out.

What people don't want to think about is that their heroes are also human, prone to the same temptations as the rest of us. They are just as weak as we are, struggle just as much, and probably have the same vices or maybe even worse.

Alright so back to Gandhi for a second, say he was as much of a racist as your local KKK member, what he became was bigger than who he was or might have been as a person. Does that make him less of an important figure? He was human after all.

I see it like this, there are some excellent teachers out there who might have failed many times over but they have the skills to make learning enjoyable. Because they have those skills they might teach someone who is stronger in those areas that the teacher is weak in.

I've said this before in my blog, somewhere I'm sure, someone somewhere has to have high ideals, no matter how idealistic they might be, as a guide for the rest of us to live up to. Even though we might fail to reach them (I know I fail miserably to live up to many of the things I believe in) there will be those among us who can.

They are heroes and as such become role models to those who identify with them. Yeah they might have different weaknesses, vices, habits, and downfalls. They also inspire those who might have different weaknesses, vices, habits, and downfalls.

What a circle huh?

Heartless Girlfriend Or Loving Boyfriend

There was a blind girl who hated herself because of her blindness. Not only did she hate herself but everyone else around her except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her, loved her, and cared for her. She said that if she could only see the world she would marry her boyfriend.

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her and then she could see everything, including her boyfriend.

Her boyfriend asked her, "Now that you can see the world as you wished, will you marry me?"

The girl was shocked when she saw that her boyfriend was blind too and so she refused to marry him. Her boyfriend walked away in tears and later wrote her a letter than simply said, "Just take care of my eyes dear."

Sometimes I know I am the heartless girlfriend, filled with anger and bitterness. Being bitter is really easy to become and easier to encourage. If something has gone against you that hurt you a lot and you become bitter over it then it is very difficult to get over it. You might even have people around you who unknowingly encourage your bitterness and drag you down deeper into the muck.

I have learned when to catch this and then change what I am thinking about. I am striving to become the loving boyfriend. To be there for those who need someone. Yes sometimes you need to hurt and wallow a bit but then you need someone to help you back out of it. Everyone has been there as well at some point. Some around you might still be there, so give them a hand up out of the muck if you can. Help them overcome their bitterness. They and everyone around them might just be very thankful you did.

Rainy

It has been rainy the past two days. Not that I'm complaining at all, I love it.
It has been a few years since we actually had this kind of rain for an extended period of time. We had a tornado touch down a little Northwest of town yesterday as well. The sirens went off and everything!

Those are exciting times let me tell you!

Rehearsal went pretty well last night! I think it rained most of the night, I slept pretty well!!!! Had some unusual dreams and everything!

I am going to try to film the ninth episode in the You Tube project tonight after getting off work and get it posted!

Surreal Life Wrap Up (With Spoiler)

The Vanilla Ice meltdown was outstanding!!!!
Everything I was hoping for!!!! It is a shame he didn't take a swing at Ron though....maybe next time!

Vanilla Ice felt he was backstabbed by Ron and was. So Rob went on his weekly tirade and tore up the set.

Amazingly Traci Bingham won the grand prize. I can't believe it....she is a few years away from being Janice Dickinson crazy though. You can see it creeping in around the fringes but it just isn't there yet. Oh well, it is still the best crazy TV on TV!!!!

Well now that I'm talking about things with spoilers I have to tell you what is on now. This is one of the saddest episodes I've ever seen on TV. Not only that but it is one of the least expected ones you would ever...um...expect.

Jurassic Bark, a episode of Futurama about Fry and his pet stray dog. Fry finds his dog and befriends him, eventually the dog becomes the pizza parlor mascot and Fry's loyal friend. Before the delivery in which Fry is frozen for one thousand years Seymour (Fry's Dog's Name) tries to stop him from going. His last words to Seymour are to wait for him and he'll be back.

Well the part that honestly makes me misty eyed and it does is at the end. You see the poor dog waiting outside the pizza parlor. The seasons change and yet the loyal dog stays in front of the pizza parlor, rain, snow, years go by and the dog ages from three to fifteen. Until after the owner retires and the pizza parlor falls into ruin. Never leaving until his master returns until he finally lays down and goes to sleep.

Chokes me up.

Got Half!

On one bracket I have both teams in the Final Four.
Yeah I picked UCLA to beat Kansas on one sheet, the problem is that I picked Kansas on three sheets to be in the Final Four.

We'll see how it plays out but I'd have to have North Carolina get into the Final Four to be in the running for the money.

Florida has to win and I'm sure they will, they play Oregon today while NC plays a very hot Georgetown. They look unbeatable right now so NC will have their hands full.

I just filmed the eighth episode of the You Tube project and it is rendering now. It is a bit longer than the previous ones clocking in at just over three minutes. It'll take a bit to get uploaded but hey it is Sunday morning, I'm enjoying a cup of coffee, I have one kitty cuddling up to me and the other one staring out a open window at a beautiful morning.

Does it get better?

NFL Goodness!!!!

I have found something that is just astounding to me!!!!
I don't know why I didn't put it together much earlier that there would be thousands of people like me out there but there are and they are fulfilling a dream for me!!!!

I have found a site for NFL torrents! I am now watching a early 70's game between the Raider and the Broncos in Denver WITH the original commercials!!!!

I am now downloading the Pats/Raiders tuck game, that was just a great game despite it going against my team. I am also getting the 85 Bears/Dolphins game from MNF!!!!

My friends if you email me privately I'll hook you up with the site link, you have to register and when you do the private forums open up for you!!!!

I am really loving the banter between Cosell and Meredith! You would NOT believe the stuff they could talk about then that have just gone way to PC now to talk about. There was a really cool commercial with Don Adams and Maxwell Smart promoting Skittle Bowl!

This site will get me through the LOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGGG off season where there is no football to watch.

I have also picked correctly on two sheets 7 out of 8 teams in the Elite Eight!!!!
On the other two sheets which were upset brackets 6 of 8 teams but one of them is busted for sure since I had Texas in the championship game....Stupid Texas.

It Is Fun!

The stage managing thing is a bit of a challenge which I really need right now! I make sure all of the furniture is in place with the correct props AT the right time so I follow along in the script and read my notes at the same time. The play is called The Cover Of Life and it is a drama. The story is pretty good, I've enjoyed it and honestly everyone knows I just don't care much for live theater. So if it gets me interested then it has to be good if there isn't any film involved.

I have loaded myself up with challenges recently. I write my blog every day. I have been working on my You Tube project on a three day interval unless I have to do something so I won't forget it.

Stage managing takes up around three and a half hours per evening so I get home just after 10 PM but last night in the pouring rain we headed to the pub for a drink afterwards and met Chianti and Sass over there! It was great to see them! I haven't seen Sass since the end of the dinner theater that I was documenting and I haven't seen Chianti since the Drummers premier but we didn't get a chance to talk much. So last night I got home just after 11.

Well half of the Elite Eight has been set and on two sheets I picked them exactly! Ohio State and Kansas escaped as the top seeds! I also had Memphis and UCLA advancing and they did. Two sheets I had upsets of those two teams with Texas A&M and Pitt advancing and of course they didn't. So my bid for winning the big office pool seems to be on course and chugging away!

Life is good! I hope your's is twice as good right now!

Guess What????

I volunteered to stage manage the next theater production. That means that I stay back stage and move all of the furniture around when the acts are over.

What can I say? They asked and I said yes. It is fun and a challenge and I enjoy the company.

I have also uploaded the seventh episode in my series. Progress, pretty soon my character will have some nice callouses where his feelings used to be.

Fitting Day Video

When we met on the 10th, the entire cast got together for the first time to get measured for costumes.

Beersnob wants to film the whole process and this was the result!

I'm pretty happy with where this project is going. It is going to be really really good when it is finished! I'm also kinda happy about how this clip turned out with around an hour of footage compressed into around six minutes!

It is fun and stay with it until the last frame:)

Eragon Balboa

Alright here is what is what in my world today. I got up this morning after it raining all night and being noisy. It was actually pretty nice, I had my bedroom window open all night to really enjoy the sounds and smell of a fresh rain as well as the nice breeze.

So I get up and the power flickered a bit but didn't go out. My PC hadn't rebooted itself so I knew that the power had been on all night but for some reason I had nearly no water pressure. So I showered off but it took a while and was less than satisfying but serviceable.

I was just grateful I had power and running water:)

So I call the City to come up and investigate so I took off at 1:15 to try to meet them at the house and on the way home I picked up Rocky Balboa and Eragon. I make it home and the City was no where in site but I tried the water and it worked fine at full pressure again. Weird but I'm happy it runs and has some power behind it:)

So I pop in Rocky Balboa and even though the movie used the same formula it was enjoyable. It had its inspiring moments and its heartfelt "Rocky" moments as well as the work out montage that gets you all excited before the big fight. It was a satisfying ending to the franchise that delivered more than Rocky V did.

I really can't write about it much. I mean the formula is the same, Rocky is faced with a problem, exercises enough to overcome the problem, credits roll. Amazingly though you still feel pretty good about it even though you know what happens.

Eragon is pretty good. The real gems of this movie for me though were Jeremy Irons and John Malkovich. Anything these two brilliant actors are in I love to see. They just make any movie better and have few equals in their skill.

The movie felt rushed though. I mean I am sure any fantasy movie is going to feel rushed after the Lord of the Rings epic, super long, marathon trilogy so it is probably not a fair comparison. However it can't be helped since Eragon decided to play in the fantasy genre.

So it was a good day, water is full strength, two good movies, and it was cool outside with the occasional sprinkle, my You Tube project has had a nice amount of viewers as well and it seems to be picking up steam!!!!

Rock on!

Sweet Sixteen

Here are my results thus far on my four brackets.
1. I have lost three sweet sixteen teams and only one elite eight team.
2. I have lost five sweet sixteen teams and again only one elite eight team. (Stupid Wisconsin)
3. I have lost four sweet sixteen teams, one elite eight team, one final four team and one championship game team. (Stupid Texas)
4. I have lost three sweet sixteen teams, and one elite eight team. My best bracket!

I don't know how I stand in the pool but I know that I'm in good shape for the rest of the tournament!!!!

Last night I completed and uploaded the next episode for the You Tube project. The character is still developing his motivations. This is so much fun!!!!

Surreal LIfe: The Vanilla Ice Experiment

What I've noticed is that not only is Vanilla Ice unstable, has a foul temper, and will do anything for attention but....well I guess that sums it all up afterall. I didn't notice anything different than that.

Verne Troyer lost last night and went home. He lost because his very hot fan lost contact with his shoulder. The last episode is this coming Sunday and it looks like Ice looses it for good in the previews and goes on a rampage of destruction and anger. He gets loud and then since no one in the house can physically match up with him, intimidates them into silence with his drama.

Ice might be bi-polar or he could just be that unstable OR it could just be really good editing. Either way I'm going to say he is unstable.

I plan on doing the sixth episode of the You Tube project tonight or tomorrow night as the character starts to develop now and starts to tell the story I had envisioned.

It is a great day out already and I hope all of you have a day that is twice as good as mine!

The Day After

The premier of The Passing Drummers, St. Patrick's Day, and half way into the second round of March Madness!

First Beersnob, Mrs. Beersnob, and I decided to get a St. Patrick's Day drink before the festivities. After that we walked to the Cherokee Strip Center where the movie was going to premier. It was an experience, first the good. Everyone had a really good time!

There were some scenes that came off really well. The projector that was being used really made the movie difficult to watch so I won't comment on the entirety of the movie yet. Everything was too dark and made the actors look like they were too shiny. Chris and I sat in the back of the screening and talked it over. He said it looked good on the computer that it was being edited on. I'm anxious to see it on DVD on a home system to see what it should look like.

Afterwards we went to a restaurant and I had a really good steak! Wow it was good!

Ok my brackets! I have four of them this year because I want to win!
So on my brackets after the first round here is how I have done:
1. bracket I missed 6 and lost no one in later rounds.
2. bracket I missed 7 and Washington State in the second round.
3. bracket I missed 5 and again Washington State in the second round as well as Maryland.
4. bracket I missed 4 and Duke and Old Dominion in the second round.

Half way into the second round I have correctly picked every bracket without an error. I look for more today as the teams are pared down to the Sweet Sixteen!!!!

I am in really good position to finish very high on at least two brackets but more than this, I'm having a blast!!!!

OH, I also posted the fifth episode of the You Tube project, it is starting to develop a bit more and I'm actually starting to get comfortable with a camera staring at me. I confess that the face blur helps a lot!

Life is good and seemingly getting better each and every day!!!!

Poker Night

Well there is good and bad, the good is that it was a great poker night with friends and I only lost a little money.

There isn't really any bad. I got busted when I was nearly short stacked, I had a medium pair and my opponent had a Q-10 and caught a Q on the turn to beat me. I played pretty well, didn't catch a pocket pair the entire night, not deuces, not Kings, nothing. The best hand I had was a straight from a 9 to a K. I won all of my hands by being aggressive and playing tight so when I did bet big I ran everyone out because I certainly didn't have any cards.

The problem is that if you don't catch many hands then you do run out of chips sooner than later.

Anyway it was a lot of fun, I'm making a pot of coffee right now and getting set for the Passing Drummers premier tonight which I have mixed emotions about seeing. First since Chris is a friend I want to lend him my support in this movie. Second I shot half of the movie and want to see how many of my shots were used. Third I want to get out this evening and do something since it is a Saturday night.

After I wake up some I'll post my tournament brackets are doing.

Thursday, March 15, 2007

Wow This Is Great!!!!

I am watching the Duke-Virginia Commonwealth game now on TV while watching UCLA-Weber State on my PC!!!!

Man I love technology!!!!

So far on my four brackets I've done pretty well I'll give you a full recap after the entire first round is over.

What would really rock is when the NFL finally gets their act together and embrace technology and sell some kind of game package for the PC for those of us who don't want to get a satellite dish.

Anyway just a quick post to let you know that broadband net service rocks!!!!

The Madness Starts Today!!!!

What a great day it is going to be!
Every game is going to be on the radio at work so we will have plenty to listen to today. I have four brackets to follow so I have a good shot at the final money as well:)

I put up the fourth episode of the You Tube project last night and on My Space so it is starting to get some viewers now. Everything is rolling along.

007

Now anyone who knows me knows that I'm a Bond fan.

Got all the movies, tried to drink the Bond Martini a couple of times and found it to be a very tough drink unless Grey Goose is used.

Everyone older than I am are usually fond of Sean Connery as Bond while I grew up with Roger Moore. To me Roger Moore is James Bond. George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan are all tied for third place to me. While I have enjoyed nearly every Bond outing I have to say that Casino Royale ranks among the best.

Roger Moore had a fun charm that he brought to the Bond character. He was serious when he had to be and charming when he wanted to be. He was just Bond to me even though I admit he had a couple of the worst outings as Bond he also had some of the best.

There are many Bond movies that are in a dead heat tie while only a couple stand out. Among them are The Spy Who Loved Me, From Russia With Love, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, You Only....well you get the picture. It is difficult for me to pick a top Bond.

Daniel Craig has a chance to be among the top two. He is a Bond for the times, these times. He has a hard edge, sharp. He lacks the fun charm of Moore and the wit. What he is that Moore wasn't is a cold blooded killer. This seems to be a deliberate turning of the Bond character to match the times, serious, almost too serious.

Yeah Bond has saved the world in nearly every movie but in this one it seems like it is more desperate. You feel like you are watching a cross between Jack Bauer and Vic Mackey as Bond. Willing to do whatever it takes to keep the innocent from perishing and not afraid in the least to jump over the line.

I'm not going to go into the regular haphazard review I usually do, everyone knows who Bond is and what his movies are about. This is more about the franchise and where it is headed. A decidedly darker Bond. Meaner and bloodier.

It is sad to see the old Bond go but this one has promise.

Lost Boys Of Sudan

This was a pretty good documentary. I really enjoyed it quite a bit.
The gist of it is that Sudan Christians were under attack by Muslims and thousands of families were slaughtered and many people were put into refugee camps.

The US government allowed many of these refugees into the US for the promise of a new life and a new start. They contracted with the YMCA to help these refugees start their new lives by paying their rent for the first four months, giving them some basic skills, some spending money, basic things like that.

The group's home was Houston, Texas. The documentary follows them for nearly two years. I don't want to spoil it so I'll leave it there since if I go deeper into the story it will spoil it. It is a wonderful story though, made more so since it is real.

I made the third episode of the You Tube project and posted it this evening. Traffic is actually starting to build! I'm encouraged that it will be a success and I look forward to when there are millions of people watching it:)

This project is really going somewhere! I admit this is more of a end justifying the means message but it is a good one!

Stupid Daylight Saving Time....

GGGRRRRRRR!!!!

This puts a crimp into my very cheery mood.

Well anyway I'm going to add a third episode tonight to the You Tube project. Once I get comfortable with it and get into a groove I feel it will go smoother and really help the material.

I'm practically giddy about it, but that is because I know how it ends:)

Surreal Life Goodness Warm Soft Goodness!!!!

Why can't I not like this show?
Well we had the weekly Vanilla Ice tirade, Ron Jeremy self centered vanity comments, Verne Troyer pimp moments, Traci Bingham drunken happiness, Pepa being the sane one until she started going all psychic (yeah she was wrong too), and Andrea Lowell finally goes home. What a shame, she is so hot and yet she is gone.

I love this show!

Daylight saving time started today. Eh....I know Beersnob loves this time of year. I can live without it, I'd rather live without out it! Thanks to Congress we have super sized DST.

Thanks Congress....

My second episode of the You Tube project is also up. I looked at some of the most viewed and what I've noticed is that the most viewed video blogs seems to have the most episode production. I wasn't really planning that much but you know something? I'm going to put more out there. That'll give me something to work on at work....I can probably do three or four per week.

I created a My Space site for this character so now there will be an extra touch of reality to go along with him.

Did I just say him while referring to me as a character? I swear I'm not developing a second personality!!!!

Fanfilm News

Today as I said earlier the majority of the cast was together to be measured for their costumes.

Ideas were kicked around, plans were laid out, and everyone got to see everyone for the first time!

The full magnitude of this project is starting to dawn on everyone, the scale is far bigger than what everyone was originally thinking.

What is also dawning on everyone is how much fun this project is going to be and how excited everyone else is about doing it!!!!

This is going to be an outstanding project!!!!

John Wayne Appreciation Night

Was a lot of fun!

Rio Bravo and The Quiet Man were enjoyed and it lasted until nearly 2AM. Closing time for the bar scene. We enjoyed a Macanudo brand cigars, beer boiled bratwursts, bourbon, and Irish cream not to mention the fine conversations!

I'll have to do this again very soon!

I'm working on the next episode of the You Tube project right now as well and I believe that I'm going to put Drinkbusters on hiatus for a while. It will be very difficult to coordinate schedules for at least five weeks and by then the fanfilm project will start in at full speed.

So for now I'll have the You Tube project as a personal project and the only schedule I'll have to coordinate is mine. There is a meeting at noon today to get the actors sized for costumes, this will be the first time the entire cast will be together.

The You Tube Project

Has begun.

I won't post a link here, well not for a while yet.
First because it is a dark project....to start with. Not dark like it was poorly lit, dark in tone, mood, and material. While that isn't a bad thing because I know how it ends, it'll get darker though.

Second because I want to see how it does on its own without the support of my friends who want to see me on camera. Yeah that's right its me because I had a very difficult time finding an actor who wanted to deal with some uncomfortable material. However because it is me I have also put a face blur over my head since I am camera shy. I also modified my voice a bit as well.
Chianti isn't a fan of watching herself on video and I can honestly say neither am I and it might be worse hearing myself.

The other reason for the face blur is that I want the viewers to think of this character as someone who might just be the person next door to them or someone they see at work or someone they see while grocery shopping. You'll understand when I eventually post the link and see what the story is about. The character can be anyone since there is no face to connect them, it is up to the viewer to put a name and face on him.

Anyway this is going to be the first of a year long project. I hope to add a new episode every couple of weeks. Since I am the only one that I have to rely on that means that if it doesn't happen then it is my own fault. So if I can get twenty six episodes out of this project I'd be very happy and it would exceed my expectations.

Keep in mind that this is also FICTION, a creation of my own imagination and nothing else it does have real overtones, there are some real facts mixed in about me and what I see on the web. It will hopefully come off as real, that is my goal. I want people to wonder if it is a real person, someone who is really contemplating the things that this character is contemplating and as a result that they will start to look at what is around them in a new way.
Maybe a more compassionate way.

Anyway as long as You Tube doesn't ban this project and take it down it should be a very powerful piece of art.

March Madness

Is shaping up! Selection Sunday is coming up in just a few days now and then America will be filling out there brackets and pulling for teams they have never heard of before! Man I love this tournament!!!!

I watched The Ant Bully last night, a fun movie but just not of the quality of a Pixar flick. Next up is a documentary called Lost Boys of Sudan. That sounded very interesting!

Weezy is doing well in LA right now! She has done a few gigs as an extra right now and is dipping her toe in the Hollywood water!

Going To Be Warm

Yeah today is supposed to be in the mid 70's and sunny!!!!

Going to be nice out:)

That's good, matches my mood. I'm really getting excited about Saturday. I want to see how the cast develops their chemistry on this project. I saw it on the documentary project and I really miss shooting something every night like I was doing.

It is something I really love and now that it is over I really miss doing it. Friday night is coming together really well now!!!! I have to find a place in town that sells good cigars and then pick up the meat and beer and that is everything!

I have another project that is looking for an actor but this one is going to be simple but it should hit a lot of people like a sledge hammer. The actor, and I only need one, but it will be for a few months, every couple of weeks. It is going to be a very experimental project that should make some people cringe and inspire others.

Stay Tuned!

More Of What You Really Are?

I listen to a lot of sports radio at work. It is enjoyable, helps the day go by faster, and just generally good to listen to.

There is one host who has a theory that alcohol and massive sums of money will make you more of what you really are inside already. That those two things will allow the real you to come out since with alcohol you just start to loosen up the control you keep on the real you and with money, well a lot of rules don't apply to you anymore.

I have known people that when you are at a bar with them and they get a couple of beers into them you start to wonder who in the world you are sitting next to. It is a good thing they aren't wealthy or I'd have to wonder who in the world I have been around for a lot longer. So for the most part over the past couple of years I have pared down my drinking companions to a handful. Those that I really enjoy being around and that we have all been drunk around each other so we are comfortable.

The downside to that is that a lot of times when I want a drinking companion I can't find one and if you will recall my post about running out of drinking partners then those experiences are the genesis of that decision a long time ago. Before I started writing this blog anyway:)

So I wonder, like I always do, what kind of person am I when drunk or when insanely rich? Well since for the time being I only have experience with the latter I believe I can answer that question as I am a happy drunk. I believe that many of my friends who have seen me that drunk can attest to that fact.

So according to the theory of the radio host does that mean I am that inside and alcohol just lets it out? Would I be a happy rich guy? Would I do half of the antics I used to do drunk sober if I were rich? I am sure that I would be different in a lot of ways but I'd like to think I could afford to be more generous to my friends and family.

I'd like to think that I could actually change the world for the better, at least for those around me. To ease their sufferings and lighten their burdens however idealistic those really are that is what I'd like to think.

I am an idealistic person, if we don't have high ideals then how in the world can we ever strive to improve ourselves or the world around us?
If we don't have a high water mark then how do we know what is possible and strive for that?

I'd like to think that when I am drunk the good guy gets out for a bit, if I were insanely rich the good guy would be the one who didn't care what people thought about him while he was making the world a better place.

See the point is, why can't I be that guy now while I'm sober and broke?

Andrea Lowell SURVIVES!!!!

Alright everyone knows that Andrea Lowell is hot but she just isn't that famous.
To use a wrestling term Chyna got jobbed. The game on The Surreal Life was to have as many famous people as you can call you, loser goes home.

The audience wasn't all that privy to the names that everyone had in their lists but everyone pretty much agreed that Andrea's. Nothing against Andrea at all but she lobbied Sherman Helmsley's name to the top of the list because she was crying a bit and Kennedy felt sorry for her.

We as the audience really don't know who called who and how subjective the fame rankings really were. I was under the impression that if she didn't get the fifty points she would have lost and gone home.

I am happy that Andrea is sticking around though. She is easy to look at.

Vanilla Ice....oh my, what a psycho. This guy has a hair trigger and an unstoppable temper....bi-polar much? He needs medication more than anyone I've seen on celebreality since Janice Dickinson!!!! He is that psychotic!

The next episode looks great, Traci Bingham (well from the previews) gets it on with Verne Troyer! Talk about drama!!!!

Ultimate Band Lineup

Alright since it is Sunday evening and I have plenty of free time on my hands I have been exploring the depths of You Tube. One of my favorite sites on all of the web. Not only does You Tube host Drinkbusters, my project of fun and love, but it also has thousands of live concert videos!

So I have decided to construct my perfect band lineup. A band that would not only have thrived twenty years ago but would thrive twenty years from now! Yeah a band in the hard rock/metal genre since few people I know are familiar with the country music artists I know. Yes my friends I want you to relate to this lineup!

Alright first I need to qualify the idea of band. I am going to list a singer, two guitars, bass, and drums. Two guitars because I like that lineup best and it is my blog and my list so my rules:)

First drums: I can think of a few that would fill this role, Lars Ulrich, Neil Peart, Tommy Lee, Matt Sorum, Steven Adler, John Bonham, I could go on but I out of these I am going to go with Lars Ulrich. He is just amazing, powerful, can drum off beat and carry a show by himself. Yes he can be a whiner but this is about drumming skills not the personality.

Bass guitar: Geddy Lee, Nikki Sixx, Geezer Butler, Jason Newstead, Cliff Burton, Flea, all are great! Top notch! But I'm going to go with Duff McKagen. To me he is the very definition of bass guitar. He had one of the best runs with one of the best metal bands of all time in GnR and as such deserves this spot even though the band self destructed far too early.

Guitar: There are lots of bands who have two guitars and were great. GnR for one, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Queensryche, the last blue jeans rock n roll band Tesla, AC/DC, and a few more. So I'm going to name two guitarist here, they may both be leads but that doesn't matter much, they will rock. First I am going to go with Angus Young. Absolutely amazing, stunning energy, a prolific career, hard riffs, incredible finger work and all that packed into a body that is less than five and a half feet tall.

So now who is left? There are plenty of guitar players who have based their entire bands just on their ability like Jimi Hendrix, Ted Nugent, Eddie Van Halen, and Steve Vai. Now this is going to be a surprise pick for most of you but I am going to go with Stevie Ray Vaughn. This man was THE MAN! He easily surpassed Jimi Hendrix. Yeah go ahead and say it is guitar blasphemy but it is true. Don't believe me? Listen to both versions of Voodoo Chile and tell me which one gets your blood pumping. He could do things with a guitar that people still can't do.

Now for the all important singer. Who do you want to front your band? Someone who is charismatic, powerful, the person you think of when you think of a band! There have been so many great ones, Robert Plant, Mick Jagger, Roger Daltry, Jim Morrison, even Alice Cooper? But I am thinking a bit more contemporary is best for this list though. So we have Vince Neil, Axl Rose, James Hetfield, Ronnie James Dio, Layne Staley, Geoff Tate, Jeff Keith? Rob Halford, Don Dokken, Bruce Dickinson, Ozzy, Klaus Meine?

There are so many to choose from and it is a really hard decision to make but the one person I want fronting the ultimate band is someone who can reach any note with ease. The one man who can do anything he can dream of on stage and it won't even bother him. The one man who is as diverse and powerful as they come. Chris Cornell. This is the singer I want fronting my ultimate band. He is everything you could ever want in a singer and more. He can do anything he wants on stage and just tear it up!

So the ultimate band lineup is:
Chris Cornell on vocals
Angus Young and Stevie Ray Vaughn on guitar duty
Duff McKagen on bass
Lars Ulrich on drums

Can you make a better lineup than that?
I think not!

John Wayne Appreciation Night!!!!

It has occurred to me that our circle of friends of the guy gender don't have much in the way of male bonding gatherings so I have decided to change that this coming Friday!

So last weekend Beersnob and I were talking at Chianti's house about watching John Wayne movies and he said that just mix up some carrot cake shots and invite him over and it'll be a party.
Well I have decided to combine both ideas and came up with John Wayne Appreciation Night!

A night of manly brotherhood with grilled meat, drinks from the Drinkbusters Kitchen, possibly cigars, and of course John Wayne!

What better way to celebrate male bonding than a night like that with a few guys that you have hung out with a lot anyway?

I've had a enthusiastic response so far and that makes me happy!!!!
There will be at least a couple of members of the Battlestar project there which will make Beersnob happy and provide more chemistry between cast and crew!

This is going to be an exciting event!

Mr. CIAA

I friend asked in a email today about what was appealing in college basketball.
I can sum it up with Mr. CIAA.

Abraham "Ham" Mitchell or Mr. CIAA. He is a man who dresses in different and very dapper, bright clothes every half hour at the CIAA championship tournament. He embodies the spirit of the underdogs. That is why I love watching the Big Dance, to see who is going to upset who.
Mr. CIAA make watching this underdog tournament fun and unique! He adds a different flavor to this tournament, like finding a really good BBQ joint that only you know of in a small town.

I love the underdogs, just like most Americans. We are a country who loves the common, the mutt, the David. We want to see the team who gets no respect prove the experts wrong and win instead of going home.

The CIAA is a division two conference and the winner of the tournament gets an automatic bid into the Big Dance, March Madness, the premier collegiate tournament in the states! This is a underdog conference and the winner gets a chance to run with the bigger schools of division one.

They get to shine on a national stage! No usually they don't last long but that doesn't mean that they won't this time!

Elizabeth City State is taking on Virginia Union and the winner is getting their ticket punched for the Dance while the loser is going home. Mr. CIAA has made his first appearance in a periwinkle blue suit and is due for another in a matter of minutes!

When I fill out my many brackets in the office pool this year I probably won't take the winner of this game to advance far but that doesn't mean I won't be rooting for them if they do.

AK: After Kiran

As much as I hate to admit this, Ainsley Earhardt is pretty well! She is handling the anchor job with flying colors and is very easy on the eyes as well! I admit this is the first time I've seen her but I like her!

She seems to have a nice chemistry with her co-anchors Greg and Kelly. It makes me wonder if Courtney Friel will be back on the show or if Ainsley will be there for good. I wouldn't mind either way, both are very hot and I think I can enjoy either one!

I do like the way that Juliette Huddy handles herself and sometimes I do wish she would be back on the morning show. I love how she is like one of the guys. Someone you could hang out with and be comfortable around.

Anyway, I give Ainsley a big thumbs up!

A Slow Week Or I'm Sorry

This week has been very slow at work.
I was pretty much caught up with everything Tuesday and have had to stretch out the very minor jobs I did have to keep from being very crazy at work.

So for those of you who I emailed repeatedly this past week, I'm sorry. I had already finished a novel, a couple of magazines, did some journal writing, and just pretty much did whatever I could to keep occupied this past week, emailing you all...a lot...was just an unfortunate side effect.

I couldn't stand it anymore today so I took three hours off work this afternoon and I'm going to meet a coworker at Callahan's for supper and a drink:)

The next Drinkbusters is going to be St. Patrick's day themed. We are going to get some Irish drinks some at least some green ones and when I say "we" I mean me since these should take the Drinkbusters by surprise. Well I hope so anyway:)

That kind of surprise makes the best show! I've read a few recipes and they really sounded fantastic! I really think that the surprise that the Drinkbusters will have is going to be a pleasant one, I probably won't even give them the recipes until filming which will make for more banter with me off camera.

Anyway I'm going to get cleaned up and go to supper now so you all have a good Friday night, have a better Friday night than I'm going to have and I really think my Friday night is going to be very good!!!!

Tonight Is Cinderella Night

Well Cinderella Man anyway.

Anyone who knows me knows I have a love for boxing. I've blogged about it, talked about it, wanted to be one. Boxing is one of those unique sports where you really don't have any excuses.

You versus one other man, in the ring together and no one else is there to help you. Yeah you have your corner there to tend to you between rounds but they aren't taking the punches. Anyway that was a long time ago and I'm simply not as tough as I used to be but it was a dream once!

Anyway this isn't about that, its about a movie I've heard incredible things about but just have been putting off seeing for some reason. I don't know why but I have. This is a marvelous movie!

Say what you want to about Russell Crowe as a person but he is a great actor. He is so convincing as a beaten man. One of those who is kicked around by the great depression but has a chance at greatness.

The incredible Paul Giamati plays Jim Braddock's trainer in a very convincing role.

This is a great movie, a great story, and a great viewing experience!
