When Reality Interferes With Fantasy

There is a phenomenon I've picked up on the past few years. First I noticed it when I was playing Everquest back in the day, then as that morphed into several other MMORPG games....well all of the other MMORPG games out there I sunk hours and hours into.

Then I noticed it when I saw the movie trailer for Darkon and eventually the documentary. Watch it or refer back to my blog post about Darkon.

Now this might be the next incarnation of the trend of not being happy with your own reality and injecting massive amounts of fantasy into your life.

The idea of being a crime fighter is appealing to most people. However when it comes to reality you go out in a costume, walk around, hope to find exactly what? A crime in progress? Ok so you happen to come across a gang banging dope slinger and confront him...in your costume.

Well you can imagine exactly what would likely happen. Not to mention the repercussions of the eventual driveby shootings of his dope slinging gang banging homies on your secret lair.

All of this makes me wonder again why people strive to be a hero in a fantasy realm instead of a hero in the real world. They could go out and about helping the elderly in real life clothes, it would appear that the costume would hinder that endeavor.

Tom Cruise Reviews

“…his earnestness suggests at best some kind of fictional American soldier trying to infiltrate the Luftwaffe.”
Roger Friedman - Fox News

“In the end, you just have to wonder why a flick featuring a one-armed, eye-patch-wearing Tom Cruise who tries to kill Hitler isn’t more fun than this.”
Sean Burns - Philadelphia Weekly

“But with a cardboard Cruise at the core of ‘Valkyrie,’ you just never care.”
Brandon Judell - Culture Catch

“He’s distractingly bad.”
Christy Lemire - AP Movie Critic

“Tom Cruise the movie star never disappears into Claus von Stauffenberg the brilliant military man.”
Moira McDonald - Seattle Times

“Alas, incongruous vocal intonations aren’t even the most significant problem plaguing Singer’s film, what with Cruise — missing a hand and saddled with an eye patch, making him seem like a National Socialist pirate — apparently engaged in a contest against himself (and cinematic history) to see how long he can hold the same, intensely resolute expression, and the answer unfortunately turning out to be 120 minutes.”
Nick Schager - Slant Magazine

“If Mr. Cruise doesn’t work in ‘Valkyrie,’ it’s partly because he’s too modern, too American and way too Tom Cruise to make sense in the role…”
Manohla Dargis - New York Times

“Cruise cannot suggest the aristocratic hauteur or the steely authority needed in this role. Watching ‘Valkyrie’ (which begins with a tense, well-staged battle scene in 1943 Tunisia in which Stauffenberg nearly dies), you wonder why the German officer we’re rooting for is an American, while most of the other Germans are British, except Wilkinson, who is English but really does seem like a Nazi.”
Michael Phillips - Chicago Tribune

“Most disappointingly, there’s a gaping hole at the center of ‘Valkyrie,’ and his name is Tom Cruise.”
Alonso Duralde - MSNBC

“Think of ‘Valkyrie’ as a reasonably entertaining drama about the time Tom Cruise tried to kill Hitler.”
Mick LaSalle - San Francisco Chronicle

“…he’s quite simply bad in ‘Valkyrie.’ It’s arguably his worst performance.”
Brian Tallerico - HollywoodChicago.com

“Cruise is unconvincing and stiff as the disenchanted Col. Claus von Stauffenberg.”
Claudia Puig - USA Today

“His penchant for disfiguring or masking his famous face (’Vanilla Sky,’ ‘Minority Report’) has hit the silly point, yet he’s still too showy to disappear into the role. Plus, he may be the poofiest-haired Nazi in history.”
Joe Neumaier - New York Daily News

Gee...who didn't call this a while back?!?!?!

Good Vacation So Far

Really enjoying doing nothing and having no responsibilities! I'm sure it will go old soon enough but right now I'm sort of forced to do nothing. I'm almost broke after Christmas and I won't get paid from the fantasy league win yet. Hopefully this week though. Our treasurer went in for surgery yesterday and he keeps the funds in his safe deposit box.

So hopefully in the next day or two I'll be fully funded again!

Other than that I've been destroying my low sodium diet....not intentionally but I just don't really want to eat low sodium right now. I'm on vacation after all.

One More Week

Of vacation is left! So it is about half over. It has been great so far and I'm thrilled it has been good!

Today is supposed to be really nice out. Over 60 for the high. My cold is just about gone. I feel pretty good now. Still excited for winning my fantasy league, that was pretty sweet.

I'm watching the news reports about the Israeli attacks on Hamas in Gaza. It has been in retaliation to the nearly eighty rocket attacks a day over the past few weeks and months. They finally had enough and decided to clean out Hamas. Hamas has refused to acknowledge Israel as a sovereign state and undermine all peace talks.

It should be interesting to see how this wraps up, if they stay confined to Gaza or spread out onto other territories. Israel can pretty much take out any country in that area with their firepower.

On a lighter note, the Dallas Cowboys flopped a huge belly flop yesterday. They had to win to get to the playoffs and wound up being destroyed 44-6 I believe. They have become the New York Yankees of the NFL. Its a good thing that the NFL has a salary cap or they would have been buying every free agent and Jerry Jones would have gone broke by now....and still wouldn't have bought a championship.

Black Monday has started and so far the Cleveland, New York Jets, and Lions head coaches have been fired. I'm sure there will be more to come. The Lions need to dismantle the entire management structure and rebuild. It is very difficult to become 0-16 in this age of the league. You have to make a LOT of bad decisions in a row to be that bad.

It almost has to be a concerted effort to be that bad! They did it though, as much as last year was a masterpiece of a season for the Patriots it was a culmination of years of bad decisions for the Lions which resulted in sort of an inverted masterpiece of a season.

It Happened!

My team went off and finally fulfilled its year long potential!
I tied the highest score of the season with seventy five points!

It was an amazing day! I wrapped up the points championship, won first place this week, and tied the high score! With seven hundred eighty six points I dominated!

I won the points championship by a comfy fifty nine points. So now I'll be likely be singing a lot of Queen's We Are The Champions for a while! Thank you very much!

Wrapping Up The Championship!

Currently the second place team would have to score exactly sixty one points to beat me out for first overall. Not only that but this week my team is in the midst of having that mythical "going off" week I knew was coming!

Right now I'm sitting at fifty eight points. Peterson scored a bonus td, Turner had a td and tons of bonus yards, Andre Johnson had two tds and bonus yards, the Steelers had a huge defensive day scoring me fourteen points by destroying Cleveland, Larry Fitzgerald has one td right now against the Seahawks....and I still have Rivers going tonight as well as my kicker Matt Prater.

I'm sitting in first place right now not only in the overall league score but this week! I'm in line for a double payday! This would cap off my most successful season in my money league to date. In over a decade of playing this has been my best year even though I've been close and in the money before.

So I'm at fifty eight points and counting....

Testees

Yeah, Testees. I watched the entire first thirteen episode season yesterday and I've got to tell you that it was really funny. There were some genuine laugh out loud moments over the course of the show.

Here's the breakdown, the show airs on FX and just wrapped up its first season about a month ago. Two thirty somethings who really have no goals or aim in life are human guinea pigs for Testico, a drug testing company. There are some great pop culture references, not quite as many as in the brilliant Spaced but enough to keep you occasionally surprised.

The stuff they test is really where a lot of the comedy comes from, the episode where they lose their memory is great, the episode where they get glued together is LOL funny, the episode where they test the pheromones is outstanding. And that is just three of the ten! There really isn't a weak episode here.

You can catch the series on Hulu.com and with almost no commercial breaks. There is the occasional fifteen second break for Absolut Vodka but that's about it!

So if you have some time off, catch it!

Head Cold

Yeah I've had a head cold the past couple of days and it really isn't the way I wanted to spend my time off. It is just about over with now though. The congestion isn't as strong and the cough is less than it was yesterday.

I've been pretty buzzed up on cold medications the past two days. Oh well the past three days didn't cost me anything in leave as they are company vacation days! Next week I'll be a lot better and I'm sure I'll come up with some way to spend my leave wisely!

I'm sure there will be some quality napping next week. Perhaps lunch with friends. I know there is a huge New Year's Eve blow out at a friend's house he just bought! I'm really looking forward to that!!!!

Opens At #4

As I predicted Valkyrie has opened lower than expected. It debuted yesterday on Christmas as the number four movie nationwide. In the top spot is the Owen Wilson/Jennifer Anniston pic Marley and Me. So essentially Cruise is being beat out by a dog, Brad Pitt (which is understandable) and Adam Sandler.

This was Cruise's second lowest opening performance since 1986. His lowest was the agenda driven Lions for Lambs which was soundly rejected by the American viewing public.

Quite honestly this was still higher than I expected it would do. There is a weak slate of movies out right now in the holiday season. Nothing huge and epic that would drive better numbers. No huge Pixar holiday classic, no massive epic, nothing huge.

I would love to see Gran Torino, the latest and possibly last Clint Eastwood endeavor as a director and star. Alas it has not opened here. It appears to be a Bronson meets Eastwood vigilante movie, well if the trailers are accurate. If that is the case I can't wait!

Merry Christmas!

To each and everyone of you Merry Christmas!
I hope you find yourselves in the company of loved ones!

A Great Night!!!!

All of my friends decided to get together for the holidays this year so last night was the night.

We all cooked something and brought it, I volunteered the meat so I cooked some drip beef (really yummy!) spiral cut ham, and a pork loin. It was all great but not as much fun as having all of my friends together.

That was precious.

I wish everyone had the same quality of friends that I have!

Holidays

What would the holidays be without a little drama? This drama is pretty good though, I've got to do quite a bit of cooking today.

Quite a bit for tonight. A spiral cut ham, easy enough to cook right there but I'm trying a new recipe for a roast that was outstanding at work. Someone brought it in and I've got to say it was incredible and it is kind of labor intensive. Soooo I'll start that around noon since we are eating around seven tonight.

I've got to brave Walmart at one point as well today. That'll be an adventure! It isn't even eight o'clock yet in the morning, I should be there right now in fact! Perhaps I'll do that. I'll go start the truck and jump into the shower and get that done while the whole town isn't out there yet.

One Week Left!

Week seventeen is coming up and I'm in first place. Not only that but I put nine points on second place and thirteen points on third place.

Fourth place is basically out of contention to overtake me. I'm sixty seven points ahead of that team. In our league it is very difficult to make up points. We don't give many bonus points so we are really a td and yardage league. If the players don't score tds they don't get many points. So if your team doesn't have many tds then you don't score much.

One week left and I've got a thirty nine point head start going into the games next week. It feels good too. That is a good sized head start. Not as big as last years, the first place winner had nearly two hundred points. He had Ladanian Tomlinson and two other players who had career years. It wasn't even close. He won first many weeks in a row and I think he had things wrapped up by week ten.

Which reminds me I'm sitting at forty seven points going into tonight and I'm in first place right now. One team who is contention has forty four points and has the Chicago Bears D/ST. So I can be caught, it just feels good to be in first right now. Another player, Beersnob in fact, has three players going tonight and has thirty six points so he has a good shot at first as well.

Week 16

I've already mentioned my lineup but to recap it is Rivers, Peterson and Turner, Fitz, Holt, and Johnson. Praters is my kicker and I'm running with the Pittsburgh D against the Titans today.

I'm concerned about the Cardinals game since it is in a blizzard in New England. That will really limit what Fitz can do even though he is a beast. He could really have a great game or a terrible game.

At this point I just have to outscore two teams as the fourth place team is almost fifty points back with only two weeks. He could catch up to one of the other teams but I really doubt if he could bring it all the way to number one.

If I continue to put points on two teams then I should be really good come next week! It could be a very happy new year!!!!

Bowl Season

Starts today! I've got my office pick sheet in and after today I'll be off and running!
Even though the BCS is a catastrophe there are still a couple of good games out there to watch.

Oklahoma State vs. Oregon will be a very good match up.
Normally I wouldn't care about any Big 10 team as they all pretty much suck anymore but the Fiesta Bowl will be interesting to see how many points Texas can run up on Ohio State. I think the over under is around 90...

TCU vs. Boise State is one I'm really looking forward to. I do enjoy watching Boise State play ball. They are exciting and very tough. They really deserved to be in one of the best bowls.

Utah vs. Alabama should be good and if Utah wins it will lend further weight to destroying the BCS system. Go Utah!

Maryland vs. Nevada, I can hear you now, What?!?!?! Nevada vs. Maryland?!?!? Yeah, not because of the teams but because it is played on the Boise State home field. Yeah, it is on the Smurf Turf and with the weather being what it is right now it will likely be a snow or blizzard game! Now that is worth watching! As for who is playing? Who cares, bring on the weather!

Those are the games I'm looking forward to! As for the "big" games? Eh....it really won't settle anything until there is a playoff system in place. So I am pulling for chaos to win out this year!

Friday, December 19, 2008

Yes!

Yesterday was my Friday! I'm off for two full weeks! My next day at work will be January 5!!!!

I didn't have anyone playing last night. I left David Garrard on the bench as I am going to start Rivers. Peterson and Turner will go head to head this week and I'm sure they will both want to out duel the other one. I'm hoping that is the case anyway!

I'm still 30 and 35 up on second and third place so a really good week would almost win me the league and a nice paycheck! That would be incredible! I am planning a trip to Vegas this coming March and that would cover it!

Why

Do I always wait to the last minute to Christmas shop? Actually it isn't the last minute yet, next week will be and THAT is when I plan on Christmas shopping.

As big as I am about planning things out you'd think that I would have been doing this months ago! But NNOOooooOOOooo.....I have to wait until NEXT week to Christmas shop! How nuts is that?!

It isn't even that I hate shopping or anything. I would much rather buy a gift for someone else than have someone buy one for me. Maybe I'm wired a bit differently but honestly I know I'm the hardest person in the world to buy for. If I want something I usually have it. If I don't (like a 52", 1080p, plasma or lcd tv) then I'm trying to save for it.

Oh well, such is the way I think I guess. So if any of you have any ideas about getting me something, do me a HUGE favor and donate that money to a charity or adopt a family to have Christmas for. Let me know ahead of time and I might have some left over to kick in to help YOU out.

Three More Days

And then I'm off for two full weeks. Yeah I know I've mentioned this a time or two the past couple of blogs but you know something? I'm excited about not being at work for two weeks!

There has been a big to do at work lately anyway about one section being behind so they are asking for volunteers to go and work there. The problem is though that there is no guarantee that there will be people called back from the layoff. It goes a bit more indepth than that, lots of union and company rules to abide by and overlook you know.

Anyway no one is happy about how they are going to do it but they are happy that it is going to be done. Does that make sense? If you worked where I worked it would make perfect sense.

My main concern is getting people who were laid off back to their jobs. My job happens to be pretty recession proof. We aren't dependent upon lots of market factors that dictate how many people work or not. The layoff happened well before the financial crisis and in my opinion was planned when the company bid the contract a year ago. I believe they bid layoffs into their price.

I might go to the union meeting this coming Saturday, there is likely going to be a fight and lots of yelling and screaming at Johnny Friendly, our corrupt union boss. People want accountability and they don't feel they are getting it.

Personally I'm grateful for my job! A very good friend was laid off and I keep him informed about any jobs that might be posted so he can get back to work, even if it isn't the job he left. One came up yesterday and I believe he is going to take it, he would get all of his benefits back and because it is a different pay grade he will go to the top of that pay scale. He was making more when he was laid off, I don't believe they will call him back in the next year, maybe ever.

Cold!!!!

It barely hit 13 degrees yesterday afternoon. That really wouldn't have been so bad except for the wind that accompanied freezing cold! I've been running my faucets night and day since Sunday to keep everything flowing.

Had my experiences with frozen water and broken pipes a few years back....that really sucks! Won't let it happen again that's for sure.

The third place team had Brian Westbrook last night and he apparently didn't score anything for him so I maintained my overall lead! Two more weeks to go!

Weezy will be in this week to visit for the holidays! I can't wait to hang out with her, I miss her quite a bit. She has been doing wonderfully well in LA pursuing acting and it will be great to see her in a couple of days!

Increasing The Lead!

I've now got a thirty point lead over second and a thirty five point lead over third in my fantasy league standings!

This is exciting! I was able to increase my lead over the two teams I really needed to put points on. With two weeks left in the season a thirty point lead is pretty good. Not enough to be comfortable with but it is nice. If my players maintain what they have been doing it will be really good!

Well the show is over, it closed yesterday and we all pitched in to tear down the set. That was quite a chore. It took about three hours to finish.

Finally I get some much needed rest! After the past three weeks of doing something nearly every evening with the show it will also be a bit weird. You'll actually be wanting to go and do something with the show but there is nothing to do since there is no show.

That's alright though, I'll get over that part in a day or two! Five work days left until I take a two week vacation! That is thrilling! No plans, just get to do what I want when I want!

Sunday, December 14, 2008

Week 15

Well the season is winding down. I'm out of the playoffs but still leading the league in scoring. Three weeks total and I'll be good!

My lineup this week looks like this, Rivers, Peterson, Turner, Fitz, Johnson, and Holt. I'm going with Feely as my kicker and the Pittsburgh D as they take on the Ravens.

I might change the D though and put the Giants in as they take on the Dallas team in turmoil. Its a tough call but still it is only the defense and special teams.

Today is my last show of Yes Virginia! I'm worn out. Last night was a sold out crowd and it was a really good audience. Today's show is a producer's matinee. The proceeds are going to the March of Dimes though which is really nice.

This week is my last working week of the year! Five days and then it is two full weeks off! I'll get my Christmas shopping done, spend lots of time with those I love, and just relax the last of the year away!

Its Time

For the yearly TO meltdown in Dallas. Every time there is a news story about the Dallas Cowboys the theme to the old tv show Dallas needs to be the bed music.

Terrel Owens has been vocal in the past few days about his quarterback...as he has done in the past when he burned down the 49ers and the Eagles after that. TO seems to have a limited life span as a team player.

As long as he feels he is getting the ball he is happy, when he feels he isn't getting enough attention he is unhappy. This past week he claimed that Tony Romo and Jason Witten have been drawing up secret plays to freeze TO out of the game.

Well lets see if TO has a beef here.
Week 12 vs. the 49ers TO had 7 receptions for 213 and 1 td.
Week 13 vs. the Seahawks TO had 5 receptions for 98 and 1 td.
Week 14 vs. the Steelers TO had 3 for 32 and 1 td.
Those are good numbers.
Let's take a look at Witten's numbers.

Week 12 vs. the 49ers Witten had 1 for 11 yards.
Week 13 vs. the Seahawks Witten had 9 for 115 and 1 td.
Week 14 vs. the Steelers Witten had 6 for 62.

So TO had 15 receptions and Witten had 16. TO had 2 more tds and 155 more yards than Witten. I can't find a dropped balls stat but I'm sure it is out there somewhere and I would almost wager that TO had more dropped passes.

Look as much as it pains me TO is likely a hall of fame receiver. The thing is that Witten might as well be a hall of fame tight end and is one of the best tight ends in the game right now.

So since the numbers really don't make TO's argument there has to be something else eating at TO. He is just another NFL diva receiver who doesn't appreciate his status in life right now.

He has made generational money. He gets paid to play a game he loves. He is featured on one of the most popular teams in the NFL. What exactly is eating TO? I believe he might have some psychological imbalance where he can never be satisfied. He appears to be jealous of Jason Witten. That's kind of cute but not very professional.

Last Three Shows

Last night's show was probably the best show for the actors. They all did outstanding jobs and were really on.

Its Friday and I have one more week of work before I'm off for two glorious weeks!!!!
I'm very excited about that!! I haven't had two straight weeks off before in a very long time!

Just need some down time after the past two shows! I've been at the theatre almost every evening with a few exceptions since a week before Twelve Angry Jurors started in October!

Yeah, just need some down time.

Typical

Icy roads yesterday, warms up a bit, clear roads this morning!

That is our weather. It is really rare we have slick, icy roads for more than two straight days. It happens sometimes but not often. I'm ok with that though. It was certainly very cold and is right now even. Got the Suburban warming up right now. I like stepping into a warm cab! I guess that is a simple pleasure, a warm cab on a cold morning.

Well I don't have anyone going in tonight's game which features the Bears and Saints. I won't be turning in my lineup this morning. I could as it probably won't change between now and Sunday but I'll just hold off in case I decide to pick someone up.

I think I'll go to the pub tonight before the show starts. Well it is really a full on dress rehearsal with a special needs crowd we are putting on for free. Been ordering Irish Coffee the past couple of times I've been there. Nice and warm on a cold evening!

Wednesday, December 10, 2008

Minor Snow Storm

Our first storm of the year hit yesterday. About an inch of snow but it had rained some first and that is what froze and is under the snow.

The roads are slick and icy. I've had my Suburban running for almost a half hour now. A warm diesel is a happy diesel! Yes I plug it in at night too and have anti gelling fuel additive in the fuel.

Well rehearsals start again tonight. We have a show for special needs kids tomorrow night that is like a rehearsal but with costumes. Then another three show run with the set strike being on Sunday afternoon.

That will take a good two hours to take apart and put up. Maybe a bit longer. After that I have some down time, much needed down time! My two week vacation starts the following week! I'm thrilled about that!

Tuesday, December 09, 2008

I Lost

My weekly match up which also happens to be the first round of the playoffs. I was winning by a comfortable margin too!

That's alright though, I did maintain first place by eighteen points! My team can maintain that or increase it! The payoff for any of the top three places will be a nice one!

Its cold outside. Not icy like they were predicting though and that's nice. Today The Dark Knight comes out on DVD! Great movie that I'm looking forward to seeing again!

BCS Debacle

In what seems like a yearly occurrence the BCS has botched college football. If I remember correctly the BCS was made to put the best teams in the best bowls. So tell me why in the world Ohio State, Cincinnati, and Virginia Tech have BCS games while Texas Tech, and undefeated Boise State don't.

Yes yes Boise State isn't a BCS school but they are unbeaten and deserve a better bowl game than 9-4 Virginia Tech. It is all about conference champions and automatic bids. That is why this system SUCKS. Everyone in America is crying out for a playoff system except a handful of NCAA executives and heads of the conferences.

A playoff system would be the best. You take the top teams regardless of conference and put them into a playoff bracket. That way the teams who are in the best conferences who beat each other up aren't penalized as much as the teams who play NO ONE like Ohio State and USC. Their schedules are pathetic!

It is a travesty to any college football fan to put some of these teams into good bowls. We deserve better.

In other news I'm now back on top of the points lead as our playoffs started yesterday. I am the only team over six hundred points with six sixteen. Second place has five ninety two and third checks in with five eighty two. So I've got a decent lead and if my team pulls together one more game like yesterday I think I'll have it secured. I'm in second place going into tonight with forty eight.

First has fifty seven. I won my playoff match up as the second seed and have moved onto the next round.

So So Second Show

The audience was horrible and nearly unresponsive. They really either didn't have any energy or they just thought the show was bad which it wasn't last night. The cues were good, the actors were on, they didn't lack any energy.

Some audiences are great and respond to everything and then some are like last night's audience and they are flat from the start.

Today's show is a producer's show, they will be very responsive since they kicked in some money to make the show happen. It also happens to be during the games today so I won't really know how my team is doing until later in the afternoon.

That's alright, it will be a nice surprise to see how they are doing while I'm not watching. Maybe they will really go off this week and I won't know it until later! That would be an incredible surprise!

I'm meeting friends for lunch today at eleven. That'll be fun, always is!

So today I am starting with fifteen points, my opponent has ten in the first round of the playoffs. I'm the second seed after last week's loss so I'm taking on the fifth seed. Would have been the the top seed if it hadn't been for last week.

It's alright though! This is a new week!

Opening Night

There were some jitters among our youngest actors on opening night. Nothing that wasn't worked out by the second act though. All in all it went very well.

The crowd was a little flat but did pick up some later in the show. A couple of the actors were sick and really had to step up their game to cover for that. With a large cast it is bound to happen this time of year.

This was a very long week. I didn't think Friday was ever going to get here to be honest. I was going to work, coming home for a short time and then heading to the theatre until nearly ten every evening. Then repeating the process the next day. I need a vacation.....which I'll be taking at the end of this month for two weeks!

I plan on doing nothing I don't have to!

Friday, December 05, 2008

Fifteen Points!

I got a nice amount of points from Philip Rivers last night as the Chargers routed the Raiders! I'm now in first overall this week and in the league! The week is barely underway and I'm looking forward to the games.

The problem is that I won't be able to see much of the games as there is a Producer's show on Sunday afternoon.

So it is kind of a good news bad news thing. I'm in first but won't see my teams play.

Last night's final dress rehearsal went very well! The friendly crowd was into it, the clapped several times that were unexpected, laughed at all the right parts, and enjoyed the show. I blew one cue badly as I brought the lights down a few lines too fast.

Despite that everything went well and everyone enjoyed the show!

Best Rehearsal To Date

There were few flaws, my cues were perfect, the spotlight was perfect, the ADHD kid was not on stage a couple of times which made the other actors relax and those scenes came off perfect, we finally have a show!

I'll be there bright and early for the show tonight. Well not so bright and early as I'll be there around 6:30 and it will be dark and cold but I'll be there!

This is the first show with an audience, a test audience of family and friends but since some of the kids haven't been in front of an audience before it will be a good experience for them. Last I heard the tickets were going really quickly and really close to being sold out for a couple of shows!

That's really good when that happens!

Wednesday, December 03, 2008

Second Act Chaos

I've been to rehearsal every evening for Yes Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus as I am running the light board and computer that dims the lights. The first act went well, the actors were on, the cues were flawless.

We took the break between acts and came back and nothing went right. Our spotlight guy was a tad late and had to use another light on the fly for the spot. One of the actor's child is in the show and apparently he is ADHD and can't sit still for two minutes or remember anything from five minutes ago. He jumped a large scene with a line and from then on my cues were off, several of the actors had a hard time following, and it just descended from there.

Hopefully the show tonight will be better.

Still Second

But I gained ground on third place and now am only one point behind first! I can live with that. I knew it would tighten up as the season wound down. This is just happening now instead of later.

The only year that we haven't had a close race for the overall lead was when a team had LT in his prime a couple of years ago. He won by around two hundred points and came in first several times that season on the weeklies.

It was a runaway victory all around for him. Peterson isn't having that kind of year but if he have had a run of twenty tds this season I would be that dominate despite my receivers under performing td wise.

This is going to be a tough run in the next four weeks. I really need my team to step up and do what it did during the start of the season and get into the sixties for a couple of them to have a good chance at winning it all.

Second Place

Again!

I've lost my heads up match this week badly, 59-32. I've also lost first place to the second place team and now trail 569-562 overall. I've got Andre Johnson going to night and if he breaks out and has a stellar game I'll be back in first.

Third place put a ton of points on me as well and I lead him by a mere two points but he is done for the week.

This wasn't a good week for me at all. It started out so promising with two tds from Larry Fitzgerald and then went no where. Turner had a good rushing game. Peterson had a good game. Rivers did nothing. My kicker had a mere five points. Usually he is good for double that.

Its alright, there is just a three way chase for first place now!

Week 13

I've got a two point lead in my match up this week. Fitz had a big day Thursday night and got me two tds for twelve points. My opponent had his kicker going and got him ten points.

I'm rolling with my QB Rivers this week. He is still leading the league with passing tds. My RB duo has become more potent over the past two weeks with Turner leading the way with his td explosion. Peterson is finding his groove and has the Bears on tap today. He has done well against the Bears so it will be interesting to see what happens!

Fitz did well already. I'll couple him with Andre Johnson who has the Jags on tap in a nice match up for him and Torry Holt who if he starts I'll be thrilled in the lacking Rams offense.

Jay Feely is my kicker of the day and has a good chance to dominate today and I'm starting the Giants D/ST.

This is a week that had a great start to it as my WRs were the ones who were under performing despite good receiving numbers.

Epic Fail

My dislike for Rosie O'Donnell is epic. She is someone who I cannot stand. She is mean spirited, boisterous, thin skinned, abrasive, divisive, hypocritical, and out and out mean. With apologies for my friends who do like her and enjoy her, I cannot share your opinion.

Much to my delight she is also a failure on network TV now. Several scathing reviews are up on her ill fated variety show attempt this past Thanksgiving Eve.

This was about as predictable as Valkyrie being the next Tom Cruise box office flop....and it will be. It is an bad idea with an actor who is out of favor with the movie going public. Everyone knows Hitler lives after the bomb attempt on his life so who exactly wants to see a movie based on a failed attempt?

That doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out. Tom Cruise in an eye patch, a failed conspiracy against one of the most evil men in history, a few B list actors...what's not to like?

Rosie is someone who people have an opinion on, there is no gray area with her. You love her or dislike her. She is similar to Hillary Clinton in that regard. No one is luke warm on Rosie. No one is luke warm on Tom Cruise, you either love him or think he is a nut job cult member.

I don't think Rosie is a nut job cult member so that is a small point in her favor...at least she isn't Tom Cruise.

A Great Thanksgiving!

It was a lot of fun! I had two big feasts, lots of family and other family! I watched the parades and parts of four football games! All in all it was an amazing day and one I'm thankful for!

Today I've got two events to attend. Lunch with two friends at Chili's and then at five a big event downtown to usher in the Christmas season with more friends!

This is a wonderful time of year!

Friends And Family

There are two different kinds of family that you can have. One is the one you can't choose. I happen to love mine and get along well with them. I've got a good family and I'm going there at lunch to have a wonderful Thanksgiving meal and watch some football!

There is also the family that you can choose. This isn't a new concept for me as I feel I'm part of several families. I have a wonderful family in Iowa that I'm close to and I have known for more than twenty years. I have a family here that over the past few years we have grown very close. I'm having another Thanksgiving meal with them today!

I'm thrilled to be so fortunate to have two incredible families that I can have huge meals with and another I know I'd be welcomed anytime I showed up! Some people have no one and I have an abundance of family!

My wish for you fine readers today is that if you have a family, chosen or natural, that you find some peace and joy with them today! If you have no one then my wish for you is that you have the same peace and joy!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Friday!!!!

Well it is actually Wednesday but it is my Friday to a four day weekend!
Rehearsal went pretty well last night. I think I have the light cues ironed out now and the blackouts and fades in the right areas.

I sent off the Operation: Qatar package yesterday. I don't believe it will arrive until next week however it will be worth the wait. It is packed with boxes of cigars and I wrote a Thank You letter and put it on top.

I'm working on a Christmas package now. I asked for requests on what to put in the next shipment. They all have my email address and I hope they give me requests to fill.

My Thursday!

Yes tomorrow is my Friday! I plan on being off the rest of the week after tomorrow!

Rehearsal went pretty well last night. We decided to put some more blackouts into the show to allow the actors to get into place. Stuff like that you just don't think of until you have a full group of actors on stage.

We changed a couple of the delays as well to give more time to get into place. This is a good show though. It has a ton of people in it.

Well third place scored as many points as I did this week at fifty two. That means I didn't put any points on his team but I still maintained my thirty some point lead. A couple of teams put points on me but they were in the lower third of the league and not in striking distance right now.

I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving! I have a couple of dinners to go to and they will all be good!

Mixed Results

I scored over 50 points which was an amazing score and probably secured me third place for the week. I also put points on second, third, and fourth place! A lot of points on fourth place since he scored two points. I put eleven on second place which was really nice and helpful!

Third place has a couple of players tonight going so I don't know exactly how many I'll put on third yet. The spread is over twenty right now though!

The bad news is that I lost this week in my match up. My opponent has seventy five points and still has Ryan Grant going tonight! He has a lock on first place. Second place this week clocked in with sixty points. He is done though as am I.

Michael Turner had four tds yesterday giving me a much needed boost in points! He was a beast and unstoppable! Peterson had one td in the effort which helped. My wide receivers are my weak point. They rarely score but have incredible receiving days. Fitz had a great day in receptions and yardage. Johnson had a better day with over one hundred yards but I only get a point for that. Nothing for Fitz's effort.

If they would ever get a couple of tds every other week or so I'd feel a lot better about winning my league. As it is second and third are too close to me right now.

Week 12

Today I'm going to start Rivers, Peterson and Turner as my RBs, and since I started Washington on Thursday I'll be starting Fitz and Johnson. I used up my D/ST on Thursday as well.

Pittsburgh really didn't smash up the Cinncy offense as I was hoping for. It seemed to be a tailor made game for them to dominate as well and they got me two points. So I'm up 2-0 right now.

We'll see how today plays out, the match ups are average. It could go either way, single digit scoring or a sixty point day.

A Great Friday!

So there we were at work, we got to work a no lunch and got off forty five minutes early!

That was really nice! Then I had to go to Walmart and get some shopping done. Needed such things as light bulbs, razors, stuff like that. I also picked up Tropic Thunder and Wall-E.

Then I came home to get ready for supper with friends at the pub. We sat there and chatted for about three hours, said goodbye and I came home about 9:30. Then I get a text from Nathan that he wants to go out. So I pack up again and head to Buffalo Wild Wings for another supper but much later.

I get home for the third time and final time of the day at around 11:30! I was only in the mood for sleeping after that!

It Still Isn't

Guns N' Roses. I listened to it a couple of times after rehearsal last night and it disappoints.

This is the album that was seventeen years in the making. That had undergone tons of lineup changes. Axl must have thought, "I got an idea, I'll get rid of all the original members who made Gn'R great and make this!"

Why?!?!?!

As I already blogged about, Gn'R has a pedigree to live up to. This simply fails to do so. Gone are the powerful Slash riffs. The rhythm of Izzy or even Gilby. The powerful driving bass of Duff. Steven or Matt, your call there though. Both were very good but they are also gone.

It is a disappointment in my book to put this album out under the Guns N' Roses name.

How The Mighty Have Fallen

Once upon a time Guns N' Roses was the biggest, baddest band in the world. Lawsuits, breakups, and many years have passed since their last studio release. Axl Rose is the lone owner of the Gn'R name now....and it shows.....

Chinese Democracy, the long in work and fabled new Gn'R release is due to hit stores Saturday however it is now streaming here.

Appetite For Destruction was one of the rawest, baddest, most powerful pieces of metal that it deserves its own wing in the rock n' roll hall of fame. Lies followed it up and was pure art and enough to tide fans over until Use Your Illusion I and II came out. Civil War preceded I and II though on Romanian Angel Appeal, a charity album.

All I can say is this is more of an Axl solo album than a Gn'R release. This direction is almost mellow instead of the hard drinking, hard living Appetite.

I don't know, this could have been called anything else and it might be a decent album. With it carrying the Gn'R name it has a pedigree to live up to and it really doesn't do that in my opinion.

This is a LOT different than when Metallica went from their Justice album to the Black album. It might take a couple of times in listening to it but it seems like it is years and years too late to be relevant now.

Tech Rehearsal

Has been moved from tomorrow night to tonight. That means I'll be there at 6:30 to start to get things put together and underway. We programmed all of the cues in last Sunday so it shouldn't be a big deal to go through this without a hitch.

However I do expect a hitch or two. That's just the way things go. There will be something we overlooked and in a show with this many cues, over sixty lighting cues, it is bound to happen.

Tomorrow night is likely a full on rehearsal with everything and everyone. I'll miss the game tonight but I am starting Nate Washington. Against the Bungles he might just have a good game! Its worth the shot anyway! With that said I believe I'll also start the Pittsburgh D/ST. They should pound the Bungles into the ground and get a few sacks/ints.

Man Hall Of Fame Part 22

One of my favorite singers of all time is Tom T. Hall. I think one of the first songs I learned was Sneaky Snake! A childlike song about a snake who likes root beer.

If you have never heard the melancholy tale of The Homecoming you have done yourself a disservice. Never listened to the wisdom of Old Dogs, Children, and Watermelon Wine then you are poorer as a compassionate human.

If you have never enjoyed the simple message of I Love then you are indeed prone to being cynical. The bluesgrassy Fox On The Run is alone worthy of anyone's admiration!

I'd rather put this version of Homecoming by the legend himself than a version that is superior sounding but with a video of a jerkoff posing for the camera.

Tom T. Hall is a storyteller in music. His voice is warm, gentle, and wise. There aren't many artists who can match his resume or longevity in the business. Tom T. Hall is a legend and deserving to be in the Man Hall of Fame!

Penultimate The Shield

Tonight is the next to last episode for The Shield. Vic is fighting for tomorrow, Shane is on the run, Ronnie is hanging by a thread, Claudette and Dutch are circling in for the kill.

I know that this series will go out with a bang and not a whimper. I think that Vic will meet his demise and not be locked up. The further this show goes into this season and the closer it comes to closing the more I do believe Vic will go out with guns blazin'!

About an hour and a half to go and it won't be long before there is THE showdown between Shane and Vic!

Still Back In First Place!!!!

Second place's kicker just didn't score enough points last night so I retain the lead by three points! Third place gained quite a bit of ground on both of us. So here are the point totals 478, 475, 449.

I had a much bigger gap over third and beyond until this weekend. I'm just excited to see when my team will go off. It will for a big amount before the season is over with, it always does. Every player will click and post good numbers and it will give me a much larger lead over the field.

With less weeks left in the season now it will be difficult to catch me once they do go off for insane numbers!!

Monday, November 17, 2008

7-4

I'm the only 7-4 team in my league! Seven are tied at 6-5. I'm also back on top after falling to second place last week. I gained enough points to give me a twelve point lead however he still has his kicker going tonight.

He could wind up in first place by the time the game ends tonight if his kicker socres double digits. I had to swap kickers yesterday as John Carney is now on the bench and Lawrence Tynes is taking over kicking duties. He was injured most of the season and is healthy now.

I will probably drop Carney now and pick up the top free agent kicker. I scored thirty points, Michael Turner had a great game and got two tds. My defense scored, and my kicker got six. AP started out with a great half and tailed off. Fitz had over 150 yards but didn't catch a td. Johnson had a blah day. Holt was almost nonexistent as well. Rivers had no tds in Pittsburgh in rough weather.

If any of them would have scored it would have helped me put distance on the field. I was below my 43.5 scoring average which still leads the league. I'm still looking for that one week where they all click at the same time. It will happen and when it does I'll likely finish the year on top.

A Great Day

Yesterday day and evening were very good! I was extremely worn out by the end of the day since I drove nearly seven hours but all in all it was fun.

I and some of my family members drove to visit more family for the day. Did some fun things like a zoo and what not.

Drove back and I went with some of my dear friends and one dear friend in particular to a show. We stayed for the first act as I was dead tired.

Today I have my full lineup going! Rivers, Peterson, Turner, Fitz, Johnson, and my third WR is a toss up between Nate Washington and Torry Holt. It will probably be Holt. John Carney as my kicker and the Giants D! I feel ok about today's match ups. Not great but ok.

Getting Cold Again

The leading edge of Winter is upon my part of the country. Temperatures start to dip below forty in the evenings and the day times struggle to reach sixty.

Evenings will be filled with my noisier than average heater, tv, and hot chocolate. My cats will want to be in my lap while in the Summer they are content to sleep on the back of the couch.

I have two humidifiers now that will keep the house from drying out in the cold, dry air. My stacks of DVDs will be entertainment while other evenings I will work at the theatre on what ever show I've committed to. I don't have to work dinner theatre now as my director friend has pulled out to devote more time to her family.

No one knows who the new director is as they haven't been selected so I'm unsure if I'll be running the tech for the show. If they ask I will.

I purchased The Watchmen on Itunes. It is a motion comic, panel by panel with a single voice actor. I can't tell you how moving this comic is, how profound. It is a genuine work of art and literature. I hope the movie does it justice.

I've read rumors the ending event has changed. If the rumors are to be believed I think I'm ok with the change. The climax was a little hokey now but it was written over twenty years ago. The story stands the test of time but that was the weakest link, I think it might be stronger now as a movie, if it remains faithful.

It is such an odd and challenging story to translate to film. It jumps around in time and to different characters a lot. Its so sprawling that it would be hard to focus in a two hour movie, actually impossible. It would need a movie the size of one of the extended editions of Lord of the Rings to do it correctly, about three and a half to four hours.

I doubt that will happen though.

Supper And A Donation!

Operation: Qatar has picked up some momentum. I started to reach out through someone close to me to a local shop that has a small selection of cigars. Low and behold they came through with a nice and generous donation for Beersnob and the troops!

I also received a commitment of several unopened boxes of cigars from a very good friend and the man who gave me my first humidor and starter sampler! I believe he has given up cigar smoking for marathon running. The two really don't mix and I know my friend well enough to know that he doesn't get junk cigars.

I've been prowling the cigar auction sites for good quality deals and have come across a couple. I've also been on Club Stogie visiting the subforums for cigars that people want to sell.

These is an excellent project thus far and I know that what is sent will be used and enjoyed!

I also had a very good supper with a friend last night. Chris, you'll remember him from directing two of the movies I helped with and he was in Locker, the movie I wrote and directed. He has got a really good job now and wanted to get out of the house a bit! So we had supper and a very nice conversation!

Two Episodes Left

Watched The Shield last night, I had DVR'd it from the evening before but was too busy to get to it.

I am going to withhold judgment thus far to see how the last two episodes are handled but it seems right now that the writers are dragging this out longer than it should have been done. It has gotten very nuanced when it was more hard hitting and gritty. The snappiness isn't there right now.

Hoping that the writers came up with such an extraordinary finish for the series that it took a lot of nuance to get it to this point for the slam bang finish this series deserves. I am positive of one thing though, they won't Soprano it. There will be a conclusion and it will probably make as many people angry as it will satisfy them.

I'm sure that all of the characters will have their own conclusion, Vic, Ronnie, Shane, Julian, Claudette, Dutch all of them will have their characters wrapped up somehow, it just might not be as satisfying as we would like it.

Sons of Anarchy continues to impress. This young show has gotten more interesting by the week. It also has two more shows left and it seems that Clay is becoming more isolated by his criminal decisions. Jackson is finding his moral compass while still treading down a bloody path. The rest of the gang has their own little arcs but generally follow the main arc. It is clear though that Clay and Jacks will be at odds very soon though.

Sirius XM Merger

Since it is now completed and everything I get up this morning to an email from Sirius that tells me that I have a new channel lineup.

They've done away with the names of a few channels from what I can tell and moved a few around. They added about ten I think, it is hard to tell right now without a side by side list to compare them with. It is nice to have a few more choices to choose from!

This is going to take a while to get used to and to see exactly what they've done but it looks like a positive move on the surface! Buzzsaw is now called Boneyard. Boneyard didn't play very good music while Buzzsaw was a lot like The KATT when I was in high school, they played a great mixture of heavy metal and hard rock! They would play the hits and they would play some oddball things once in a while where you would say, "Wow! I haven't heard that in years!!!!"

I like Buzzsaw but maybe this is just a name change, I hope. Boneyard on XM would usually play oddball things all the time and it took forever to hear something you actually liked!!!! It was like mining through a lot of mud to get a gold nugget most of the time.

I'm sure there will be a lot of changes going on in the lineup in the next few months so this is likely just an opening act.

Ooopppsss!

Well I slipped into second place after a surprise td by the San Francisco special teams. I would have stayed in first if it weren't for that too!

I'm now in second place with 448 total points trailing first place at 452. He had a monster day from Thomas Jones who had a three td day totaling twenty points. Otherwise I would have put another ten points on second in total scoring!

That's alright, I'm almost fifty up on third place which as I said yesterday is a good sized margin. I believe I have a great shot at first place. I'd be scoring incredible amounts of points if Andre Johnson would catch a few more tds! He leads the NFL in yards after all!!!!

Today is Veteran's Day. Do something good for a Vet you know!

Monday, November 10, 2008

Still First Place!!!!

The second place team stayed right with me and we tied in total points for the week with 37. That should be enough for me to win my weekly match up as well so I'll be sitting at 7-3 for the season. I have one more player going tonight while my weekly match up has two in Issac Bruce and Frank Gore. I have a 10 point lead though.

Second place has a player as well however every time his player (Kurt Warner) throws a td to my player (Larry Fitzgerald) I'll gain two points on him. Third place put points on me however. Eleven to be exact. His kicker went off as well as DeAngelo Williams while I had good showings from Adrian Peterson with 192 yards rushing and a td. Michael Turner had a good game adding a td to my total as well.

My WRs aren't producing as they should be. Andre Johnson is going flat after a few weeks of monster receiving games in yardage. Torry Holt is on a horrible team and was lucky to get any receptions at all. That's alright though, they need to click together one big time and that will put my points lead securely in first place and make it harder for anyone to catch me.

A fifty point lead is big. That is hard to make up if you are hitting your averages. Every week you there will be a small points gain or loss, usually in the single digits. I wouldn't be surprised if I cut the eleven points that third place gained down to five or I'll even gain a point if Fitz gets two tds.

Sunday, November 09, 2008

Week 10

Well it began on Thursday with me getting ten points from Matt Prater and will end today with me getting another eighty points from the rest of me team!!!! Yeah that's what I want to happen!

I want career days from every player! We'll see how it turns out though. I'll be missing large parts of the games as I am going to a lighting work shop at the theatre today. As I've blogged about before I'm working lights on the next two shows and they have a new lighting system. I'm going to go learn the ins and outs of it today.

It should be over with my four and I'll return home to a massive explosion of points in my favor;) I'm meeting my friend Nathan and his girlfriend at Buffalo Wild Wings for some lunch at noon and to watch the kickoffs.

I have to fit laundry in today and football watching time as well. Going to be a busy day!

Getting Around

A little later this morning than usual. I have to go to the store and get groceries and then get some fuel.

Everyone gets to spend less now since gas is under two bucks. Not me....diesel is still hovering around two ninety. Not complaining though, I enjoy having a diesel. It is more maintenance but it is very manly! LOL!

Last weekend I bought a new microwave. I haven't had one in about a year and it was actually a pretty interesting experience not to have a microwave around. It changes your cooking habits quite a bit. My last one just broke and quite working and I never replaced it. Well now that my urologist has me on a low sodium diet, under 2000 mgs, I've started getting those frozen vegetable packages from the store. They are usually very low in sodium.

All of the tasty things have sodium in them though, that I learned quickly....

Week 10

With Denver taking on Cleveland last night I decided to start Matt Prater, my kicker. It paid off with ten points! So far I'm up 10-0 in my match up with Beersnob's team!

He has a full team to go on Sunday so it will even out by then. All in all it is a good start though and a nice advantage going into the Sunday games ten points up. A temporary advantage though it may be.

Jay Cutler had a huge night but I think Philip Rivers will have a good game Sunday as well, he might not throw four tds but he will have solid numbers! Adrian Peterson should have a good game as well as he really is starting to get on track and get consistent in his game.

Fitz and Andre Johnson are still studs and post good yardage numbers every week lately they just need to add in a couple of tds here and there and my league leading numbers will skyrocket! They will, there is a lot of season left!

Before June 2009

The Obama middle class tax cut will be history and deemed unfeasible. Instead everyone will receive a tax increase when the Bush tax cuts expire or are repealed.

Somewhere in the world, likely Iran or China, they will cause an international incident which will be the first test of Obama. If Iran doesn't have nuclear weapons now they will have. Probably what will happen is that Iran threatens Israel and Israel attacks them bringing condemnation from an Obama administration, the UN, and the Middle East.

There will be lots of new laws passed that are under the term "budget" that will be packaged together and only require a 51 vote margin to pass. This will nullify the filibuster and the only power that the minority has to protect the country from voluminous amounts of new government programs that will be adding to the trillion dollar deficits. None of the programs will be useful or helpful in any way. They will just be more layers to the bureaucracy onion.

These are just three off the top of my head that will likely happen. No tax cut, international crisis, more big government.

It wasn't a bad dream after all.

President Elect Carte....er....Obama

The next two years will be very telling for the political future of America. I've got a built in allergy towards monarchies and socialists. I'm starting to get itchy all over.

The silver lining is that conservatives will barely prevent unfettered Senate control by Reid. The House though will be driven further left by Pelosi and I fear that both houses will either pull Obama with them or worse yet be lead further left by Obama.

The product of the Chicago political machine will now have to stand and deliver on his promises. The racist peddlers such as Sharpton and Jackson are now officially out of business. The race card is as impotent as Jose Canseco.

Obama has a delicate balancing act as he courted the far loony left, is comfortable in the company of terrorists such as Bill Ayers, and racist radicals like Reverend Wright but he still has to govern and that means learning a LOT of things you didn't know before you had the big chair. That means many of his positions will not please the loonies.

Conservatives will now be driven underground to regroup while a handful in the Senate stand in the way of liberal domination waiting for the cavalry to arrive in 2010.

So it is time to define what conservatism means now. It is time to stop fighting each other and stop compromising with the left. It is time to come up with a game plan that in two years will be used to defeat the left in both houses. It is time to find another Reagan and give him both houses to govern.

Tonight the shining city on the hill has taken a dramatic turn to the left. I pray that we are not attacked as Joe Biden has predicted because I fear we will not retaliate as Clinton didn't retaliate (well outside of a few cruise missiles) when our embassies were bombed and as the Cole was bombed.

As Ayatollah Khomeini held our hostages for the worst Presidential administration in modern history I fear that we are again ignorant of those lessons under Carter and must now repeat them in a bizarro summer school under the watchful big brotherish eye of Barack Obama.

This is what is expect of Obama as President. The land of not having to pay for gas and mortages.

Reality will be much different.

Holy Election Day Batman!

Let's hope that today we don't take a step further down the income redistribution path that could set our country back at least six to ten years. Let's hope that today we take a step towards curtailing the size and scope of our massive pig of a government.

Let's hope that today the educated vote and those who are just sitting around all day with a bong in one hand and a twinkie in the other forget to vote. Honestly if you don't have a income tax liability I really don't care what your opinion is, you are likely voting to keep getting something for nothing off of the backs who work for what they earn.

Let's hope that tonight we know the results of the election and not a month from now.

Let's hope that it is a fair election in which no one can find fault in the process.

America is stronger than the dangerous policies of Obama and he won't be able to destroy the country in two years. If his first two are a Jimmy Carter style of failure more than likely conservatives will sweep into office with the midterm elections and lame duck Obama. His damage will be limited to two years and from that we can easily recover from.

I feel I have a total entitlement to what I earn but I don't want a penny from what you earn, you work hard for what you earn and deserve to keep it and distribute it as you please. The government has no moral right to take your income and give it to those it deems as deserving.

You will still have to pay your mortgage, put gas in your vehicle, and keep your lights on no matter who wins. It is just a matter of how much money will be left out of your paycheck to do that.

Still In First!!!!

I survived the bye weeks and not only held onto my lead but the meager 29 points I've managed to score is going to put points on second and third place as they scored less!

I've got Nate Washington going tonight, I dropped Devan Hester and acquired Washington yesterday.

I will likely lose my match up this week as I'm down 43-29 though but the team I'm facing isn't a threat to my points lead. They are doing really well to get into the thirties every week.

Now I've upped my league lead and the margin is nine with one of my players left. It is possible the margin will increase tonight but we'll see!

Week 9

Today's lineup will be one with lots of potential because of match ups. Arizona has the weak St. Louis defense to contend with today, Fitz should get at least one td. Adrian Peterson might have a good day against the Texans, at least rushing he will, lets hope he gets some tds to go with the yardage.

Philip Rivers is on a bye this week, the last bye I'll have for the remainder of the season. If I maintain my lead today I'll be 100% the rest of the season and will have survived the toughest part of my schedule.

David Garrard steps in today as my QB. He has been on a tear lately and if he can get 2 tds I'll be thrilled. If he gets 1 then I'll be happy! Michael Turner gets Oakland today, he should run buck wild over them and be a threat to break a long td every time he touches the ball.

So today's lineup looks like this, Garrard QB, Peterson and Turner RB, Fitz, Johnson, and Holt QR, Carney K, and the Giants defense and special teams since they have the Dallas Cowboys today who are in the middle of an implosion. I believe the G-Men will get to the QB a LOT today and might produce a td in the process.

A Good Halloween Night!

It was a lot of fun, I didn't make the second Halloween party I was going to attend but I did make the first one after the show.

There were some tense moments last night as a political discussion broke out but was brought under control by a change of topic at the party. A couple of CPAs were explaining what higher taxes mean and how they effect everyone because corporations will cut jobs, benefits, or pass the taxes onto consumers meaning the cost of living will go up. A handful of Obama supporters were explaining how 95% of people making 200,000 (this is a falling number by the way, it started at 250K, now is at 200K, Biden said 150K, and yesterday Bill Richardson said 125K I believe) or less per year were promised a tax cut.

The argument was brief but intense. The Obama side was grounded in their promises while the CPAs were grounded in reality and history.

Personally I want everyone to be wealthy and no one to be taxed at a higher rate. I want the standard of living to be raised for everyone and not the wealthy to be punished with a higher tax rate because of success. I want everyone to have the opportunity to be just as successful but I know realistically the results won't be the same for everyone. The opportunity should be the same for everyone though.

Happy Halloween!!!!

For all of you spooks, ghosts, and goblins out there in blogland, be safe tonight.

I'll be at the theatre for the penultimate of the final two shows of 12 Angry Jurors. Then it is off to a Halloween/Cast party! I'm sure that the show will be good, the party fun, and the evening chilly.

PC Problems Again

So yesterday morning I woke up and I caught my PC rebooting itself. I thought there had been a late night update installed as my PC is scheduled to do that.

I got into the shower and got out again and it was still rebooting itself....not good. Now I knew I had a problem. The last time I had this problem the ram had gone bad, well one stick of it had. I am pretty decent at diagnosing PC problems and repairing them so I was thinking when I got home from work this would be an easy fix.

Find the bad ram and use the other two gigs instead of three. Well not so fast there Hopalong. None of the ram was bad when I got home and tested it. SO now I had to boot off of the Vista DVD and run the chkdsk.

Also did not fix it. Now I know there is an internal drive error that neither the chkdsk or auto repair couldn't fix. Not a hardware problem either. Now it is time to give it to my friend Harry who loves the tougher repairs.

I've got it taken apart and the hard drive is out and ready to take with me so that Harry can diagnosis it a little more.

Brilliant Moment Of Compassion

Occasionally I, your humble blogger of record, reads Dear Abby in the daily paper. For those of you who know me personally know I had a paper route when I was a teen and often read the paper in the mornings in the restaurant my parents ran before school. I guess I read Dear Abby or one of the other advice columns occasionally still and try to keep up with Gasoline Alley. Some habits, huh?

Anyway for you long time readers of my blog, well you will know that I preach practicing compassion in your daily lives. Do those occasional things to make someones life a bit better. A stranger might be having a horrible day and something like buying their coffee in the morning could make a world of difference to them.

Dear Abby a couple of days ago had a golden example of what real compassion is.

DEAR ABBY: With Halloween approaching, I would like to share a young man's act of kindness that will stay with me forever.

In October 2005, my lively and energetic 7-year-old son, Matthew, was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor. After successfully completing treatment, he was back to his old self and happily making plans for the summer. Unfortunately, by the following summer his tumor was growing back, and there was nothing the doctors could do.

One evening in July we ordered a pizza to be delivered. Matthew told me that for Halloween he wanted to dress like a pizza delivery man, and asked if he could talk to the man when he came to the house. Because of the tumor, Matthew's speech was difficult to understand. His right side was paralyzed, and his body was swollen from steroids, so I was concerned about how the person would react. I was hesitant, but agreed.

When the delivery man arrived, I was shocked to see how young he was. I told him my son was sick but wanted to meet him because he wanted to dress like a pizza delivery man for Halloween. Without hesitation the young man came in and talked to Matthew about his job. He even gave Matthew his name tag to wear as part of his costume on Halloween. I was so impressed with that young man. He wasn't taken aback by my son's appearance, as so many of our adult friends had been, and he made Matthew so happy.

Matthew was in the hospital by Halloween, but he wore the man's pin on his hospital gown. It was my son's last Halloween, and I'm thankful that this young man was so caring and considerate. His name is Jeff, and his kindness should be an example to everyone. -- LINDA IN MASSACHUSETTS

DEAR LINDA: Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of your son. Your letter touched my heart. Thank you for writing to remind my readers and me what a difference a simple act of kindness can make in the life of another person.

My friends, be compassionate, you really don't know how much you can really make someone's life a little bit brighter by a simple act of kindness.

Dancing Hitler

If you can't make fun of one of the most evil men in history then exactly what good is the internet anyway?

Offensive? This is about as offensive as The Three Stooges and their take on Hitler and the Reich. Plus it is a darn catchy tune! I dare you to turn away!

Another Win

I won my match up 35-27. I put points on every team in the top five except for second place who gained on me by ten. I'm only six points ahead of second now and in need of a good points week.

It would also be nice if they would have a bad points week but they have been solid so far while my team has been erratic the past couple of weeks. The bye weeks have been hurting me more than I thought they would. Next week I'll need a solid performance from David Garrard as Rivers will be on his bye. Garrard put up two tds yesterday so if I can get that from him next week I'll be happy.

Peterson is going to have to have a monster game and I hope Michael Turner gets one or two. I need to put some distance between me and the field right now. Andre Johnson has been having monster receiving games but the tds are going to other players like Kevin Walter and Steve Slaton.

Boldin is also back into the Arizona line up and took two tds from Larry Fitzgerald. Fitz is a monster receiver and it would be nice if he was thrown to a bit more in the end zone.

I'm doing what I needed to right now and that is to maintain the league lead during the bye weeks, slipping though it may be I'm still in the lead.

Week Eight

Today I'm going to be without Peterson. I picked up Jamaal Charles last week and dropped Kevin Smith. This week I'm going to drop Charles and pick up either Dominic Rhodes or BenJarvus Green-Ellis.

I'll be getting Michael Turner back though from his bye week and that will be a big help! Next week Phillip Rivers will be off though and that will be a tough week. After that I'm pretty much home free on bye weeks and if I survive these two weeks with the league lead then I'll have a great chance at maintaining it since I'll be 100% strong.

So this week my lineup will look like this, Rivers QB, Turner and one of the RBs I just listed, Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson, and another WR I haven't decided on yet, John Carney as my kicker, and since my defense/special teams are playing each other with the Giants and Steelers I'll probably go with the Steelers D and Giants ST.

I've got a sixteen point league lead right now and a forty point lead over third place. I need a big day out of my team and second and third place to tank this week.

A Pretty Cool Friday!

Well it all started off around 8:30 when I took my suburban to the glass shop to get the window fixed. He told me it would be afternoon by the time it would be done. Cool, not a problem.

The owner was very cool. Had concert tickets pinned up in his garage. Hard working guy, I liked him right off. I left my suburban and he drove me back home. I was then stuck at home until about 5:30. He had another job to do and I was getting a little nervous. I was also starving since I had picked up some breakfast before taking my truck to him and that was all I had to eat all day.

So he brings my truck back to me, great service! It looks great and he did a great job. I then hurried up to the theatre and went to the pub for some supper before the show. Nathan was behind the theatre taking a nap in his vehicle and I woke him up when I pulled in. I told him I was going across the street for some supper and he asked if he could tag along. I'm always happy to have his fine company so we ate and went back to the theatre and the rest of the cast started to show up.

The show was mediocre. A few blown cues but nothing that bad. The cast knew and took it kind of hard but the show wasn't up to the level of the previous night's performance which was top notch.

After the show we all went over to Panevino for a post show party. Then Chianti and another cast member went to Crappy's, another club, for post party wrap up drinks. I then headed home about one A.M. for a great night's sleep!

All in all a wonderful day!

Good Show

Last night was producer's night for 12 Angry Jurors, the energy of the actors was really good and it turned into a great show!

After the show four of the actors and I went to the pub and hung out for a couple of hours. That was a great time! I'm about to get my suburban to the shop and get my back glass replaced now. I think I'll stop off and get some breakfast on the way. I'm hungry this morning!

Going to run a few errands today, hopefully I'll get my suburban back in a couple of hours but if I don't then I'll just hang out at the house for a while.

Eight More Hours

And I'll be done for the week now! Last night's performance was the last dress rehearsal and I skipped out on the third act so I could catch Sons of Anarchy. If there had been anything at all to do backstage I would have stuck around but there just wasn't.

Everyone is on stage at once, every prop is pretty much on stage at once. No one leaves the stage. The only props that are put on stage are done by the guard character. I've got nothing to do except tonight, I'm going to the pub with some of the cast afterward.

Since I'm having my suburban worked on I won't be going to work. I have quite a bit to do tomorrow though. I have to buy a new electric motor for my central heating unit. It is getting that time of year now to have one. It's in the forties outside!

12 Angry Jurors

Is doing well right now. The video introduction and between act II and III segment looks great on screen. It is what the director wanted and he is happy with it. The cast enjoys seeing themselves in a different way as well so it really is a hit all around.

Tonight is the final rehearsal and tomorrow is producer's night then the show starts for the public. This weekend and then next weekend.

Then I jump into the next show learning the light plot. It is a complex plot too, lots of cues. Going to be a good show though. I'm excited about it!

Yes it is now officially a very busy time of year for me.

I'm Voting Democrat

I am going to vote for Obama this year because I sincerely believe the following:

1. I believe the government can do a better job of spending money I earn than I can.

2. I believe freedom of speech is a good idea and not to be taken seriously. As long as you agree with what is being said you will be fine, really! The fairness doctrine means NOTHING I tell you!!!!

3. I believe that if we pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan that the bad guys will pack up and go home peacefully and never, ever, EEEEVVVVEEEERRRRRR bother us again!

4. I believe that people who can't tell me if it is going to rain tomorrow can tell me that the earth is warming up because of man. Never mind that we have had massive hot and cold cycles throughout history. This time it REALLY is our fault!

5. I believe that judges should legislate from the bench and dismiss the will of the people when the mood strikes. Why have elections and vote on state bills when we can have appointed judges do our thinking for us?!?!

6. I believe that the government isn't big enough or intrusive enough into our lives. We need to get more people off of the tax roles so the achievers in America can pay them for not having any sense of responsibility and bad judgment. I believe if done right we can have 80% of Americans being supported by 20%!!!! If we are really lucky we can have 90% supported by 10%!!!! I have lots of HOPE for this one!

7. I believe that the more taxes that companies pay the more likely they will be to hire people at fair wages and expand their businesses. If you lower their taxes they will likely pack up and move their company to a country that has a higher tax rate so they can pay more! Companies are funny that way. I should have taken an economics course to understand the complexities.

8. I've seen what the government can do with a welfare program, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, roads and bridges, and the education system and I can't wait until they take over my health care and start dictating to my doctor what is wrong with me!!!!

9. I believe that we have no right to defend ourselves in our homes so the second amendment isn't really necessary anymore. Who needs a Constitution anyway?

10. I believe that social security will be around forever and is my best option for a healthy retirement! It is the best run government program after all so it must be good right?!?!?!

11. I believe that the UN is the best option for diplomacy but since we will be pulling out of Iraq and Afghanistan the world will be a happy, shiny place and all of the bad guys will know we mean them no harm so there really will be no need for a UN will there?

12. I believe prisons are too crowded and the prisoners are likely just misunderstood anyway so we can probably just let them all out. I trust them to be good this time around. Heck they might just volunteer themselves to come live with me since the second amendment will be repealed!

13. I believe that people inherently flee from freedom and want to be in an oppressive government run society like Cuba. People are braving dangerous, shark infested waters to live there!

14. I'm tired of being called a racist for believing that these words mean something:
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." and that there just aren't enough racists peddling racism in our world and getting wealthy by telling people they are oppressed while keeping them down at the same time.

15. I believe that a baby isn't a baby until it is at least one year old. Until then it really doesn't matter what happens to it, it should be a law that it doesn't even get a name until then.

All of those reasons are why I'm voting for Obama in two weeks!!!!

I'm excited I Hope.

Leading

I'm not leading the league but I do have a comfortable lead in my heads to head game.

The league leader has seventy points right now while second place is a paltry forty five by comparison. If my kicker hits his ten point per game average I can get into the money from where I'm positioned at thirty seven.

That would allow me to put points on everyone in the league but one or two teams so I maintain my league leading status. With two of my key players out yesterday I'm happy to be where I am.

My opponent has two players going tonight, Pittman and the NE Kicker. Kickers should offset themselves or come close to it so Pittman would have to have an epic game to make the distance up.

In other news, I had a freaky zombie dream last night. Long one too for some reason. They weren't Night of the Living Dead type of zombies, they were smarter than that. Sort of like the vampires in Omega Man smart. Yeah, definitely that smart but zombies and not vampires.

It was freaky and likely not as detailed as it seemed at the time but still it was darned fascinating. A good October dream for sure!

Busy Day Ahead

I've got to do laundry, finish editing, and make whiskey sausage for football this afternoon.

My fantasy line up will be light of Fitzgerald today. I'll have him the rest of the year but this is his bye week. He has been my most productive WR thus far this year. Andre Johnson had a breakout game last week so he might be able to step up one more week and get some points this week.

I'm going to drop Kevin "Silent Bob" Smith from my RBs and pick up another, don't know who yet. Michael Turner is also on a bye. My team is vulnerable for another loss this week.

My lineup will look like this: Philip Rivers QB, Peterson and ?? RB, Andre Johnson, Torry Holt, and Devin Hester WRs, Prater K, and I think I'm going to start the Steelers D/ST this week. They are a little bit more productive than the Giants have been and have a better match up against the Bungles.

Busy day, need to get it started......

All Filmed

And ready to edit now!

I have twenty five minutes of footage to edit down to about three or four.

This is going to be a bit difficult but I have plenty to draw from. I believe I'll be able to get this done today and get the director something to look at on Monday. \

I'm glad it is the weekend. I'm tired and a bit worn out but I feel good this morning.

Next week will be a short week for me as well since I'll be taking off Friday and having a my back window replaced in my suburban.

Making whiskey sausage tomorrow for football. Friend of mine sent me the recipe and I'm pretty excited to try this one! It sounds incredible! There are some good football games on today with the main event being Texas/Missouri. I really think Missouri has a good shot and knocking off Texas!

Wooohooooo!!!!

It is Friday and who isn't happy about that?!?!

Two days off of fun and frivolity!

I had DVR'd this week's episode of Sons of Anarchy last night. There is a growing rift between Clay and Jacks, the president and vice president respectively. Jacks is getting more than tired of the outlaw ways while Clay is getting the club in deeper. Eventually one will have to go but I hope that is a couple of seasons away.

I don't think I blogged about this, I don't remember if I did. My neighbor across the street was mowing his yard this past weekend and I believe a rock got picked up by the mower and thrown into my back glass of my suburban. Anyway it cracked all to pieces and the first time I closed the driver's door it all fell out. So I've got plastic there to keep the rain out.

Set up an appointment next Friday to get a new one installed. Good thing next Friday is my free paycheck! No bills come out of it at all!

Tonight I'm filming the interviews for the Gaslight project for 12 Angry Jurors. I'll edit it this weekend and get the finished product to the director to review. Then we will have to have a test run to see if it actually works!

Fiesty Debate

McCain finally decided to take the gloves off a little bit. He didn't pounce on all of the opportunities he had such as pursuing Bill Ayers as much as he should have though.

I guess he finally made up his mind that if he was going to lose this race he should go down fighting which ironically might have given him a great shot at winning now. Ayers, Acorn, William Wright, which I wished McCain would have brought up, are showing a pattern of bad judgment for Obama, the product of the Chicago political machine.

Obama never got flustered but at times I do feel he wasn't as prepared as he normally was in the past two debates. He was getting frustrated and going off his script at times. His answers a little bit more hesitating, a lot more vague and generalized.

The undisputed facts are that if Obama is elected you can count on less money coming in. Spreading the wealth so others can succeed and then get punished by higher taxes. I call it, "From each according to their ability to each according to their needs." Karl Marx wrote that. Obama subscribes to that.

I've got some disagreements with McCain but on most of the issues he is right. I wish he would stop being so bipartisan and start confronting the liberal view point a lot more often though. I wish he would have said he is going to prosecute Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, and Nancy Pelosi for the Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae debacle that has cost the tax payers over seven hundred billion dollars.

Raining Again

I go to sleep and it is a foggy, drizzly evening, I wake up and it is full on raining again.

My feet never really dried out yesterday while at work. That really kind of sucked.

I went up to the theatre and gave the assistant director the questions for the opening presentation for the show. We are going to film it on Friday and I'll have time to edit coming up. I also got wrangled into doing the lights for the next show, Yes Virginia There Is A Santa Clause.

The lighting board is new so I'll have to attend a class to learn how to run it. This will be fun though. I'd much rather be behind the stage or in the booth. Actors want to act, I want to make the show happen.

Another Loss

My defense failed to score any points last night leaving me with an eight point loss. Two losses in a row. I was expecting a tough stretch through the bye weeks but come on, not when my team was a full team!

I'm still in first place by thirty three points though. My opponent next week has Tony Romo as their QB and he is now out, his other QB is Vince Young.....who was benched for Kerry Collins. I looked at the free agent QBs and there isn't much to choose from.

Peterson has had a lot of yards this year so far but few TDs. I need him to start producing. If Andre Johnson will start to have some weeks like last week he will be fine. Maybe a Texans win will boost their offensive confidence and they will go on to become an offensive juggernaut....or not....

I'm on a two game losing skid now. That sucks. If I can make it out of the bye weeks with the overall points lead though I believe I will be in good shape to continue my run at the championship.

Rainy Morning!

What a pleasure it is to wake up to a rainy morning! It is just cool!

It is a comfortable temperature, a gentle breeze, and of course the rainy part. Yeah, really nice!

Well yesterday I had a rough fantasy day. I'm eight points down right now from winning my weekly match up. Peterson just isn't producing right now even though he had a great rushing day with one hundred eleven yards. I'm trailing right now 43 to my 35. My opponent is done while I have the New York Giants defense and special teams going tonight against Cleveland.

I'm below my average of 43.6 points right now even though I believe I'm still the league leader in total points. Other teams have gained on me by quite a bit. The league leading teams this week have 54, 51, and 51 points. I really don't have much of a chance to hit that unless the Giants have an incredible special teams and defense night, really incredible.

I'd need three TDs plus a handful of sacks or interceptions to beat the league leader. It is possible and against the turnover prone Browns it can happen!

Two TDs would get me above my average and that would help quite a bit. Right now I just want to win my weekly match up.

My Lineup Today My Last Night

Should look like this: Rivers QB, Peterson and Turner RB, Fitzgerald, Johnson, and Jackson (unless I drop him and try to get Issac Bruce) WR, Prater K, and the Giants D/ST.

I have a good lineup today. Only the Steelers are off on a bye this week. I have some good match ups with Peterson going against Detroit and Fitzgerald against the Miami D. I believe Warner and Fitz will carve up that defense this week.

Last night I settled in to watch the OSU-Missouri game when I got a phone call. Two friends were going to Buffalo Wild Wings for some late supper and wanted me to come along. I really didn't feel like it but I had been in the house all day and thought it would be fun to get out a little.

We finished up there and went to The Blue Note next, a nice little club I've blogged about before. It is a quiet place and usually less than twenty people are in the whole place. OSU knocks off the mighty Mizzou then for some reason unknown to me we decided to meet another group of friends at Scooters.....this is the big hang out with LOTS of people, loud music, and LOTS of people.

We get there and it is packed of course. We find our buzzed friends and I confess to having a decent time. I leave around midnight so I can get lunch cooking at home for football Sunday when these very same friends will be coming over to watch football and eat.

I got out two crock pots, I only have two so both of them are being employed. I cut up six huge potatoes. Put one roast and half the potatoes in each crock pot, season and set on high.

This morning the entire house smells incredible!

I'm Tired

Of the government believing they are the solution to every problem. Congress gets us into this financial crisis and now they are using tax payer money to get us out.

Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, Chris Dodd, among others, they all should be put into chains and led to prison, never to see the light of day again for defending Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Two organizations that needed desperate reform and these criminals stopped all efforts to get their fingers out of the cookie jar.

If there is a recession I just plan on not participating in it. I even bumped up my contributions into my retirement program, this is an incredible buying opportunity while the markets are down! I'll look like a genius when the market hits 15,000! I am paying my bills and just will continue as I have.

Anyway now we have the Acorn scandal which Obama has contributed as much as 800,000 dollars to, did lawyer work for years ago, and just is a organization that promotes voter fraud. Well this is probably not American but if you don't pay a positive amount in taxes or if you don't know any of the issues you shouldn't be allowed to vote.

If you know Judge Judy but don't know the Supreme Court Justices you shouldn't be allowed to vote. As for the positive amount in taxes, lots of politicians promise more entitlements to people who vote but are just living on government money. If you are living on government money (the taxpayer's money), I really don't care what your opinion is on any issue. They will pander to you to get your vote, they will promise you that the gravy train won't end. What is sickening is that they take from achievers to give to the freeloaders.

Yes there should be a safety net, a temporary safety net to help people from falling into homelessness or worse.

This country is being set onto a path to socialism. I don't like it. I like people who pull themselves up from their circumstances. I like people who strive to better themselves or their circumstances. This country, for now, offers more opportunity than any other country in the history of the world.

My recipe to fix the world:
Flat Tax. Everyone pays the same percentage on products they buy, except on food and clothing which will go untaxed. Your paycheck is yours, you get the full untaxed amount. How much you pay in taxes is up to you and how much you buy.

Let people opt out of social security. I don't want those idiots in charge of my retirement. I'd take the House and Senate out of their own retirement programs and put them into social security.

I'd mandate a Constitutional class from K to 12th so that everyone will know what the Constitution says and means. Also school vouchers for everyone, meaning if you want your child to go to a private school, you get a voucher for the same amount that the government pays for public school.

Kick the UN out of the US. This is the institution that stood by while Darfur and Rwanda happened. They do no good and the American taxpayer shouldn't foot the bill anymore.

Put the government on a massive diet. The taxpayer has sacrificed enough and depending on what state you live in you pay 30-50% of your income into taxes! That's entirely too much. Government needs to spend a lot less of money that isn't theirs.

My foreign policy will be simple. You are either a tolerant, democratic government or you will face my wrath. I would allow the CIA to assassinate your despot dictators!

Health care! Easy fix, the government will put the doctors through medical school in exchange for them working in health care clinics in every county in the States for a couple of years. You need health care, you go and you get what you need! If you have private insurance you go to your doctor, nothing changes for you!

Health care isn't a right, housing isn't a right, food isn't a right, a car isn't a right. Your rights are spelled out for you in the Constitution, read it. Work hard and you are putting yourself into a better position to succeed. The government shouldn't tax you more for succeeding! It should get out of your way!

Had Lunch

With a friend, caught up and kicked around a couple of ideas. It was great seeing them again! It has been a while and we had a great time.

Came home and took a nap. Decided to watch all three Pirates of the Caribbean movie which was fun all at once. Seemed to add quite a bit to the overall story.

Today is payday! Love payday! I'm about to pay my bills online and then run a few errands to get the ones I can't pay online paid.

Plan on having lunch with another friend I haven't seen in a while! It has been a really good time while being off!

The Shield And Samcro

The Shield was really good Tuesday night. Things are really heating up and the tension between Vic and Shane is boiling over now. This is pure speculation on my part but I do believe they might take each other out in the series finale.

Even though Vic is a bad guy I find myself wanting him to win. This isn't that kind of show though. I'm sure Vic will get killed in a gangland hit or by his own team. I don't see him being arrested.

I really want him to go out a good guy.

Samcro has been a great show. Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original. It is the story of a Hell's Angels light gang that runs guns and provides its own brand of justice for the townsfolk. A couple of the cops are on the payroll, ATF is investigating, and the vice president of the club is growing a conscience.

The magnificent Ron Perlman is the leader and it is just fun to watch swagger across the screen, ruling his club with an iron fist. This is a show that is about half way over with for the season and has easily held my attention all the way through.

I don't know if the drama reaches the level of that of The Shield but it is pretty good!
