Six Pound Cat

So there we were last night, rehearsal was winding down. We were at the park and I had finished my Rocky Patel Edge cigar, hadn't caught any fish, and I was ready to head home.

I put on a plug instead of a jig, this pond is usually great for worms which we were out of, so a plug would do. I could cast the plug across the pond if I wanted, that's how good my reel was working last night.

The faster you reel this one in the more motion you get out of it, so I was cranking hard. It got about half way to me and then something took it! I reeled and reeled, it was a good fight! The fish quickly tired out though and I landed him on the dock.

This was a six pound catfish, about nine inches or so. He was fat, big, and had some attitude. He had both treble hooks in his mouth that I had took the needle nose pliers to to free him.

Now that he was free I tossed him back into the pond and rehearsal had finished. Thing 2 came over and tried a couple of casts with my rig. Then we loaded up and went home. It was a nice evening:)

This morning we are taking Thing 1 in to get her tonsils removed. Loaded up with all kinds of popsicles last night to make her recovery smooth and as pain free as possible:)
