The third day off in my four day weekend falls today, Independence Day! The Fourth of July and the launch of our nation. A nation which would change the face of the Earth forever.
We became the beacon of hope for freedom, the model for other countries to follow. Despite repeated criticism of being imperialist we've never gone to war to expand ourselves as France or England have done for example.
What we've gone to war for is for the cause of freedom. To destroy Slavery, Nazism, Communism, Fascism, and Radical Islam. (Or man made catastrophes as they are now known as.)
Our country is two hundred thirty four years old today. We easily have another two hundred years in us to show the world how freedom is supposed to be done. We'll have our gloom and doom times but we still have the inbred urge for freedom in our collective breasts. We have an automatic allergy towards Monarchy. We innovate, we overcome, and we succeed.
Thank God for our Founding Fathers as they had the foresight, the daring, and the courage to stand up to England and declare our independence.
Say a prayer for our troops in the field today, fighting not for imperialist goals but for the freedom of others against oppressive regimes. Remember our Founding Fathers who devised a country so great and noble that it still stands almost a quarter of a millennium later.
