Green Revolution

The highly vaunted green jobs that President Obama pitched to the public during his time in office has yielded less than revolutionary results.

According to this article a green grant of half a million dollars created 1.72 jobs. Hardly the numbers expected or promised. That should be proof enough that government doesn't create job growth and the private sector can.

If there was a demand for green technology and the actual technology was there to make it affordable to the public and save money then it would have happened already. The facts are that the technology can't compete with what's already out there right now. The efficiency isn't there and certainly the costs savings aren't there yet.

Perhaps in the future there will be some breakthroughs that will help prices come down but for now no one wants to drive a Volt. I'd love to have an off the grid home powered by wind but the price isn't there yet to pay for itself before the equipment needs to be replaced. Our electric bill is cheap enough that it doesn't make buying one and having everything installed a reasonable purchase with today's technology.

Someday I'm positive that the private sector will get there as self sufficiency is what I will continue to aim for but not today.
