Kindle Review And Stuff

Yesterday I mowed the lawn, edited and uploaded the clips from Friday evening, went to grocery store, made cucumber sandwich spread for Blithe Spirit, and then watched over the Tech Twins while reading The Date's new Kindle.

Yes I gave The Date a surprise early birthday present this past week with a third generation Kindle. She loves it! She said it feels like she was handed the keys to a super library. I got it so she could easily handle her text books but I'm unsure if it'll work for that or not now.

Yeah you can purchase them for the Kindle but at the same price and then what do you do with the files? At least most of the time you can sell back the text books.

I haven't read anything on a Kindle and didn't know if I would like it or not. So I downloaded Lucifer's Hammer and took it to the tech booth with me last night.

Surprisingly I really enjoyed it. It does take some getting used to though. The Kindle is super light, easy to hold (in fact it is easier to hold and manage than a regular book), can very easily be read in the brightest light, there isn't any eye strain produced after reading. I believe I could easily read on one for a very long time. You can change text size, have a text to speech option, download books via cell network for free, or use wifi. For the most part wifi is the way to go unless you are a super traveler and not around a hotspot. It saves you around fifty dollars not getting the 3G option but if you are a truck driver for example then 3G would definitely be the way to go! Amazon picks up the 3G bill too, it's free for life!

Most likely though you will easily find a wifi hotspot as they are very common in today's world.

I do need to purchase her a Kindle cover with a book light. The screen isn't back lit so it does need a lighting source. The battery life will last up to a month, which is really pretty incredible considering I charge my iPhone 3G maybe twice a day sometimes.

All in all I could actually get used to this and I think any reader would enjoy having one. It's really an amazing device!

Football for the biggest part starts today! Most of my two teams will take the field and mix it up! I've got a couple of players going tomorrow night so I've spread my players out.
