No Snow

It is cold though, about ten this morning. The truck is warming up, coffee is brewing, The Date, and The Things are still in bed. I'm up and it's peaceful as Scrat and Scotch are eating. Soon they will start their morning run through the house.

It's Thursday out and on the downhill side of the work week. A coworker who has been off work for the last six months with a liver transplant has rejoined our shop. Well not my shop but our shop in general. He has had it rough over the past two years. He had hernia surgery, when he had they they discovered he has prostate cancer, then the first hernia surgery didn't work so they redid it and took care of the prostate cancer. During all of this they discovered his liver was shot and he needed a new one so he was put onto the transplant list. Now he will be on several medications the rest of his life.

He still has to get his knee replaced but in order to do that they have to break his leg and straighten it first. That'll take a few months to heal before they can do the knee operation and possibly a hip replacement as well. He is looking at being off for at least another six months soon.

So if you are thinking you might have it rough, something just isn't going your way today, you feel cranky and irritable or are experiencing some kind of mishap in your life...be thankful instead. You probably have it better than a lot of people out there, let the small stuff go.

Mend fences, tend to your family, and don't sweat the small stuff.
